Dangerous if you are an adventure SUPer

CAVEAT EMPTOR! I purchased this fin because it was touted as the next greatest thing since sliced bread. And it looks awesome! But if you use this device, NEVER leave shore without a backup skag in your possession. I was 2.2. miles out in choppy water fighting a ten to fifteen mile headwind off Point Loma in San Diego when on a hard stroke my tail end of the board suddenly spun about and I had no idea what happened - next thing I know I a flying off my board and into the water. The tail whipped around so fast initially it did not dawn on me that I lost the skag. Feeling for the skag I realized it was gone. I will spare you the rest of my story as it went downhill fast from there fast. NEVER go SUP'ing without back up skag because your board is toast without one. At this time I highly recommend sticking with a mechanically fastened skag / fin. This is especially true if you are an adventurist going out for long paddles. In over ten years of SUP'ing in all kinds of water conditions this has NEVER happened - not in crazy water and wind conditions or running through seaweed or other debris on long hauls runs - this has never happened using a skag screwed into place in the box.

Repeatedly falls out of fin box.

Love the install and action when it stays in place. Lost 2 of these because the fit is too loose in a standard fin box on the Red board that came with this as the stock fin. One fell out when I dropped the back of the board about a foot into the water when putting it in off a dock. One fell out randomly when paddling through a weed bed. The cam bearing in the rear that holds the fin in was not adjustable for tension on the fins I bought.

Fell out after a week of use

Fell off, left me stranded without a fin in the middle of the lake. Hit surface weeds and the fin was gone. Product should not be available for sale.

Use this on my flat water 14’ racing SUP. It works great and I really like the ease of install. No hardware needed and i can easily remove it on or off the water.
