Features

  • Fully zipped, the Basecamp Bt3 will keep you warm down to 25°F; for warmer nights unzip the bag on one or both sides for cooling ventilation
  • The top layer can be completely removed for use as a quilt, or use the top by itself with a sleeping pad for an ultralight sleep system
  • 2-layer offset construction uses high-quality Thermolite® synthetic insulation for maximum loft and warmth
  • Sleeping pad (sold separately) slides into a pocket at the foot of the bag and secures with a loop strap
  • The foot of the Basecamp can be unzipped for ventilation and has a roomy footbox that holds its shape, even when unzipped as a quilt
  • Aeros pillow (sold separately) secures in place with an elastic strap under the insulated hood
Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.

Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

Awesome

This sleeping bag is quite roomy very warm. Has a lot of great features like pillow strap mat straps. I love the versatility of it that you can use it so many ways like unzipping the top to use as a quilt for summer or unzipping and using the bottom for just some more padding to lay on top of pad when it’s hot outside. Very cool design also in my opinion for the big guy this is hard to beat in size to weight ratio. I got the long and I’m a really big guy over 350 pounds and I fit fine inside. But at being a big guy like that and it weighing only 4 pounds is incredible to me. The stuff sack is even very good. I researched a lot of bags and I’m so glad I chose this one Sea to Summit has been a deal changer for me great company and with REI carrying it can’t go wrong. So in the end if your a big guy who wants quality and room buy it u will not be disappointed!

Finally

Finally! A sleeping bag I can actually move in. I don’t feel cramped and claustrophobic at all in this bag. I’m a big girl (5’6” and 240lbs) but I actually have room to move in this bag! Can’t wait to get out on the trail and try this out.

Excellent for what I needed

Let’s set thing straight and say that this is not a sleeping bag you want if you’re going backpacking, its roominess means that it is relatively heavy and bulky by sleeping bag standards. With that said, if you plan on mostly staying at a campsite or doing light hikes and like the stretching room, there is no better bag for the money. it is warm, comfy, and very roomy,
