Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE LOVE LOVE I absolutely love these boots. I bought them three week prior to leaving for Iceland and they were perfect for my trip and didn't require a break-in period (at least, not for me). These were not only extremely comfortable and warm, but kept my feet dry while walking through a river to get to a waterfall and standing in the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and running through the surf at several beaches. Which is great because that water is COLD!!! This was my favorite gear purchase for the entire trip. I highly recommend. I normally wear 7/7.5 shoes and typically for for 7.5/8 in hiking or running shoes. I bought an 8 in these and they were perfect (heel never rose up, toes never got squashed). Be sure to test size out properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around daily hiking/walking boots After purchasing four pairs of Salomon trail running shoes, and on the recommendation of my husband, (who has a pair's of men's Salomon's hiking boots), I bought these as my next daily hiking/walking boots. With my work, I tend to be on my feet all day both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather. Much like my previous four pairs of Salomon trail running shoes, these boots required no break in period. I put them on and on day one went for a four mile hike. There were no issues with blisters, soreness, etc. I'm almost three weeks into using these boots daily and have no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Feet! Bought these just before a 40+ mile backing trip. Was deciding between these and the 4D II hiking boot but ended up saving a couple bucks with these because I couldn't find any difference besides one less eyelet at the top... Needless to say, these boots blew my mind in every aspect. Kept my feet dry and regulated temperature very well in the desert heat. Climbed up boulder fields, down into the Grand Canyon, back out of the Grand canyon, through streams and on very rocky terrain. Handled every trail like a dream and provided excellent support the entire way. Would highly recommend these boots to all hiker experiences from day hikes to PCT walkers. Incredible boot! Side note: I am normally a 8.5 shoe but ordered these in an 8 as they seemed to run a little big to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable I have been wearing these for over 4 months now on my hikes and am so glad I bought them! I wanted a sturdier boot than the hiking shoes I had been wearing, something that would be more supportive while backpacking. I tried several boots but these were absolutely the most comfortable. I was hesitant to spend so much on boots but they're worth it! I've never had a blister (always wear 2 pairs of socks though), my feet don't seem to get too hot in them, and they're roomy enough to still accommodate my swollen feet at the end of the day. The top tightens up enough to keep my feet in place so my toes don't slide to the end when going downhill. They're also my favorite colors!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST BOOTS EVER! I have sensitive feet when it comes to breaking stuff in. After reading many positive reviews on these boots, I decided to give them a shot. I've mostly hiked & backpacked in trail running shoes, but decided I should probably use something more substantial for backpacking. Fearing still going to a boot, as years ago I had the worst ones that I never could get broken in, these Salomon boots shed all my fears! First trek in them was 15 miles & a 1500 elevation gain & they were awesome! GET THESE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no blisters or sore feet I bought these last month so far have put about 50 miles or more on them. I have walked a few 12 mile plus section hikes in them and my feet feel great. I have a high arch so need arch support or my feet are in a heap of pain by the end of the day. I went through 3 different pairs before these an have stuck with them. The comfort of new balance tennis shoes and the durability of a good hiking or backpacking boot. They have another pair from this brand believe it's 40 or 60 more dollar's. I guess those may be more for backpacking they are slightly taller. I will stick with salmon from now on all the ones I tried from this brand felt great. Forgot to mention I think it helps they have orthopedic insoles. Shout out to the falls church rei shoe department was so patient, polite and knowledgeable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feet feel GREAT I bought these boots last month to replace my Vasques, which had worn out. I loved my Vasques, except for the fact that I have a bunion and my big toe area would be throbbing mid-way into every hike. I thought this was my plight -- an inevitability because of the bunion. I was all set to go with the Vasques again -- even though walking around the store I could tell by big toe was still going to hurt -- when one of the sales people suggested I try the Salomons -- it has a big toe-box. I tried it and liked how it felt in the store -- but the real test as we know is on the trails. I went on several 1-hour walks through the hills of Newton to break them in and yesterday went on a 2-hour hike in the Blue Hills with plenty of long ups and downs -- plenty of support and comfort! The true test will be when I hit the trails in the White Mountains, but so far EXCELLENT! I'll report back after some more hiking this summer. I normally wear a size 7 shoe and 7-1/2 boot -- I got the 7 boot and it has plenty of room in the toes, no slippage or blisters in the heels. ;-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Total Comfort, Sheer Bliss I thought it was my bony foot but it was my old boots. I bought this boot last year and have had totally pain free hikes ever since, even doing high mileage and carrying a heavy pack. They are 98% waterproof and provide excellent support on ankle buster sections of trail.

I have wide feet of size 9W and sort hard to find a right snug fit for my feet. Here, I don't see a wide option. Would the size of 9.5 fit better?

Asked by: Geeta Monpara
It is possible going up a half size will give you a slightly better fit, but you are right we are not offering a wide option for the Quest Prime GTX boots.

My wife wears a Salomon mission 3 trai shoe size 9.  Am I to assume the Hiking boot sizing is true to other Salomon products?

Asked by: DB43
Based on the information provided, we recommend ordering a size 9 in these boots. These should fit the same as Salomon's trail runners.

How does this boot compare to the 3d comet. I need to replace my 3 d comet boots and rei doesnt carry them in womens. Love my 3d comet boots. Good thick sole.

Asked by: jane l
The Quest Prime GTX Hiking Boots are very comparable to the Comet 3D Lady GTX Hiking Boots. Both have a very supportive thermoplastic urethane shank and a Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane. The Comet 3Ds have suede leather as opposed to a nubuck leather used on the Quest Prime boots. Here is a link for the Comet 3D Lady boots: https://www.rei.com/product/109801/salomon-comet-3d-lady-gtx-hiking-boots-womens

Why in the world doesn't this come in a woman's size 11?? I have the men's size 10 on right now and slightly swishy up front. Maybe I'll try a man's 91/2 but why or why doesn't this come in a Women's 11 like their Quest 4D (too high and hurts ankles).

Asked by: Patty
Unfortunately, as of April 2017, we do not plan to stock size 11. All available sizes are on the website.

I purchased the Salamon X Ultra Mid II GTX Hiking boots in December. They are fine in the toe box area, but too loose and wide at the middle of my foot, and lacing doesn't alter the fit enough. In terms of cut and fit, how do these compare to that boot?

Asked by: Kaydee
These boots are very similar in fit to the Salamon X Ultra Mid II GTX hiking boots. We recommend trying another brand for a better fit.

One reviewer said they bought a half size up and 2 others say they bought a half size down - but they all fit perfectly. Should I buy a half size up or down?

Asked by: JLHarrell
We recommend ordering a half size up from your normal shoe size in the Quest Prime GTX Hiking Boots.
