I ordered this boot in a womens size 10, my usual hiking boot size. I was concerned because the boot wasn't available in a wide. The boot arrived and I felt like my foot was lost inside it. After wearing it around the house for a few days, I decided that the length was the problem. I ordered a womens 9.5, for comparison. The fit felt perfect from the start. I wore it around the house and outside, but not hiking, for days. All was good. As much as I wanted to keep the 9.5 boot, I ended up returning both pair. Why? I'm hard on my hiking boots and I love a good fitting boot. That said, we've had a very weird winter in Wyoming, a lot of rain and little snow. The trails have been very muddy, until recently. Every time I've went out, while trying to decide what to do, I came back with boots caked in mud. No big deal, but periodically, you have to clean your boots. My old Lowa boots are smoothe leather. The new boots are more like a nubuck leather. I've tried to clean up nubuck shoes in the past and have found it almost impossible to make them presentable. Yes, my boots are mainly for hiking, but they're also my go to shoe if it's raining or early season snow...regardless of where I'm going. For that reason, I decided that I didn't want to pay the price for a good Lowa boot that I couldn't clean up. If the boot had been smoothe leather. I would have kept the 9.5, in a heartbeat.
