Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Family Tarp I am a thrifty camper with two kids. I was seeking a tarp that could cover picnic tables and leave some space for playing/hanging out when it's raining, and or provide extra cover for my kingdom 6. This tarp solves it all, not only for its size but also its lightish weight, included cords, neutral color. When bike camping last weekend I was thankful for bringing this compact instant shelter that was large enough to provide cover for all of our needs. One thing I love about The tarp is that it provides a clean light without the depressing colouring that you find under most other tarps. Possible issues. For Sumer camping I was hoping that this tarp can also provide some UV protection and shade from the hot sun. I am dreading that this tarp gets really sticky, stinky and moldy. The color is nice as stated above but will also show dirt and grime much more easier. After researching comparable tarps I found that other companies supply poles. I would definitely liked the addition but didn't find a need for the adjustable poles when trees are around. Quality 4/5 Price 4/5 Coolness 5/5 Versatility 5/5 Setup 5/5 Size 5/5 Dry factor 5/5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Quality First off this thing is huge. Extremely well made. Lightweight. Great amount of tie outs. I really like everything about it. If I could pick a nit I would say that I wish it would pack smaller. As light as it is it is rather bulky. It could be because the material is new and a little stiffer. price is excellent especially if you get it on sale or other deal. It is big enough to cover two hammocks easily if they are hung close. It also switch from diamond to square configurations well for those times when more side coverage is needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a must have in your camping box! We were headed camping with rain in the forecast. We were determined to not let the rain affect us. We purchased this product with high hopes. We had a blast camping and stayed dry along the adventure. Along with our tent, we were the envy as people passed by. We even strung Christmas lights underneath.

Is there a bug net that will fit underneath?

Asked by: akillerbluesky
A bug net is not available for the Camp Tarp. We have the REI Co-op Screen House Shelter and Rainfly as a separate option. https://www.rei.com/c/shade-shelters

Is the fabric waterproof?  Or, in other words, will this work as a rain shelter over our picnic table?

Asked by: Love Oregon

How many poles are needed? And what size?

Asked by: proofofnatlaie
The Camp Tarp 16 requires a minimum of 2 poles for set-up. A maximum of 4 poles can be used. Pretty much any length of poles will work. It depends on how high you want the tarp off of the ground. The REI Adjustable Tarp Poles are a good choice. https://www.rei.com/search.html?q=Tarp+pole&ir=q%3ATarp+pole&page=1

How many people can stand underneath the shelter and be completely covered from rain or sun? How tall do the poles stand and how deep do the poled go into the ground?

Asked by: electromatic89
The REI Adjustable Tarp Pole (which is sold separately) is sold in two sizes, 6 ft and 8 ft, so you can choose the height of the tarp. The poles are designed to stay above the ground, not in the ground. Unfortunately, we do not have a recommendation for how many people can comfortably fit under the shelter.
