Meets my high expectations

These pants are warm but not too warm, lightweight but not thin, stretchy but not too much. Basically, just right. I sometimes wear a heavier baselayer, but these with the boot height length will definitely go into the rotation, especially when my long pants irritate and pinch my ankles in my boots (was in agony last ski day from this issue). Waist is nice and comfortable with a wide band and a smaller, internal band at the top to keep everything in place. Feel like I got my money's worth with these.

Good buy

Bought these for wearing under my hiking pants during the colder fall and spring days. They are comfortable and do a good job. Recently took them with me to UK and wore them under my jeans and Prana pants for extra warmth walking around

My Wife Likes These

She needed these for the cold-wet-windy wait for the Capitol Corridor train in Santa Clara, California, and for her cold office in a building with non-functional HVAC. She says these are comfortable, and warm enough for lightweight thermals. She also likes the capri style. It would be nice if REI carried--or Patagonia made--XXLs, too. Some subsequent thermal bottoms from Duluth Trading Company are roomier and, being midweights, are also warmer.

didn't work for me

I bought these 1/13 but didn't use them until 7/17...not needed. I pulled them out for sleeping in while camping in yellowstone and found 2 issues. 1- the shorter length left the lower portion of my legs cold. 2- and most importantly, although the waist and hips fit, the fit is so snug and tight that they were hard to pull up, and and they rode lower, exposing my lower back as well. I bought a small for 5'6" 115 lbs. I am pretty sure I tried them on and even washed them at first to make sure all was good. All I can say is that maybe they shrunk? I do not have thin upper legs, and really dislike leggings, and crop, so they all played a part in my disappointment. I will pass them on to my thinner, although taller daughter who lives in snow country. Only mistake I have ever made.

The perfect long john has been redesigned

I am so bummed that the perfect long john bottoms were modified. I am returning them. They are no longer low waisted and an elastic band has been added to the top of the pants. Elastic bands around my waist are uncomfortable and upset my stomach and I have to fold them down to my hips. I’ve been wearing these low waisted bottoms for years. Please bring back an option for the low waist and no elastic band.

Worked for me

It was hard for me to find something in the store, and I was concerned about this shorter length, but they did work for me in the snow. I will also use them under a skirt to keep warm.
