Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very comfortable and surprisingly warm I've owned these for a couple of months now and I am pleased. This is a great mild weather base layer. Worked ok when sitting around the camp fire at night during hiking trips in the fall here in Idaho, but I found they were even better for hunting. Thin enough to where you didn't sweat too much when hiking in but warm enough to where I wasn't too chilled when sitting still in the woods. They are very comfortable, they don't pinch or ride up and pack down very small. The odor control is great. The only gripe I have is they are not true to size. I was a size large according to Patagonia's sizing chart, but when they arrived they were WAY too large for me. (both in length and waist.) I'm 5'11" 210 lbs with a 36 waist and 30 inseam and the Mediums fit me perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Medium too loose Lightweight as stated, a good base layer, but I'm 5'-10" and 163 lb and the Men's Medium was too baggy. Exchanging it for a Small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Fabric is very warm for its weight. Fit is perfect for me, with no binding. They have not bagged out or stretched. I'm going to buy another pair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK But Lacking The best thing about these bottoms is how lightweight they are. Unfortunately, like all Patagonia bottoms, they are short in the leg. I have short legs, (34 inseam) and they barely reach past my mid-calf. No big deal if you're wearing them with knee-high ski socks. Also, the "quilty" fabric is not particularly nice against the skin. Not nearly as nice as the old smooth Capilene. Returned unused.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs Large & Loose Medium should be the right size but ran too roomy, long, and baggy. Have to return. Nice feeling fabric though.

Does Capilene shrink when washed?

These long underwear are made from polyester and will not shrink. We recommend drying them on a low heat or hang to dry.

What temperatures would these be best used for?

Asked by: Hunner Long
REI (and Patagonia) does not offer temperature ratings for clothing and outerwear. This product is a great option as a baselayer in mild to cool climates.
