Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun family Kayak we have used this 3 times now. Each time it was great. It tracks fairly well for how short the front is. We have had 2 adult and 1 large lab in there. As well as 1 adult and 2 kids. It will be tight with 2 adults and 1 kid, but doable. It blows up really fast. I would how ever recommend a pump with a PSI measure, so you can see how many PSI you are putting in the kayak. It also deflates very quickly. Make sure you remember how the kayak was folded. Once in the bag, it's fairly heavy, maybe 45-50LBS. But so far we are very happy and glad we went with the wider longer version. There is plenty of room for a small cooler for those lunches on or off the water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sort of huge It's certainly an XL size, but it's rated for two adults and child with gear… so it makes sense for those wanting a raft to get out on the water. It was easy to inflate and the sides are really durable. The bottom of the raft and sitting area are made up of regular PVC plastic and aren't as durable as the sides. Very scary because if there's anything hidden below the water…. there's a big chance for a pop. My dog fit well and being 30 lbs, i wasn't worried about him popping the kayak. Super sturdy. Good quality overall. But more of a Canoe than a kayak in my opinion!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's pretty good I like the kayak, but it never "wow" 'd me. It is very durable and packs up nicely. Almost worthless without the fin in place. I don't like the way the fin is held in with a small plastic pin so I will be upgrading that. It tracks fair with the fin in place. It's no Sotar, but it does the job I got it for (multi day river floats). Barely enough room for 2 adults and a medium dog with minimal overnight gear. Have never neared the weight capacity but it hold us all pretty good.

How durable is the Duratex/600-denier polyester with regards to sharp rocks and/or barnacles on beaches?

Asked by: jrasanen
The material on the Chinook XP Tandem XL Inflatable Kayak is durable. Additionally, you can purchase a repair kit in case the material does leak or get popped.

Can either of the "adult" seats turn around so we could face each other when leisurely floating?

Asked by: mountainline
The seats are not fixed on a rail, rather there are attachment points on the floor and along the sides for seat adjustments. It's possible to turn one of the seats around but stability of the seat may be compromised and the comfort of both adults will certainly be challenged.

Curious if this is a self-bailing kayak?

Asked by: mjenkins
The Chinook XP Tandem XL Inflatable Kayak has cockpit drains that allows easy drainage of water from the boat.

Will this Chinook tandem be able to handle saltwater marshes and Intracoastal Waterway activity, and hold up against an inadvertent encounter with an oyster bed?  Or is it too risky and would a hard shell be better?

Asked by: Dau13
This kayak is a great choice for use in calm saltwater situations. We recommend hosing the boat down with fresh water after every use in saltwater. Just to be safe, the kayak should be kept away from oyster beds.
