lightweight, does the job
I used this with a friend's dog on a recent trip--easy to use, lightweight, dries out well, sturdy enough. I even put it in the back of my car and it stayed upright / didn't spill (he's a pretty chill dog, also). He took to drinking out of it well--would stick his nose in to drink when I held it up to him. I gave this to my friend as a thank you for allowing me to adventure with her dog; I would buy this product again!
Lightweight and durable
Bought this for my 80-lb lab retriever mix since he won't drink out of water bottles or spigots when we're hiking. It's so lightweight and compact that I can carry it anywhere. My dog didn't have any apprehension using it, and even though he's a messy drinker, it has stayed upright through all of his slurping.
Its ok, wasn't impressed.
Bought this item for a weekend trip for my large dog. As soon as I filled it with water it felt a bit flimsy and it wasn't filled to the top either. Once I put the bowl down for my dog she bumped the side and it almost collapsed in on itself letting out water everywhere. Water didn't leak from the main part of the bowl which was great. I ended up returning it and exchanged it for a Sea to Summit bowl which worked out better for me and my dog.
Improved My Dogs Walks
I bought this for my Great Dane, since she normally gets tired 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through our walks. She also had to lay down in the shade and rest if we went to the park for more than 10 minutes. I decided to get a bowl and bring some water with me, and it has made a world of difference. She now can take much longer walks and spends up to 30 minutes at the park. She loves the bowl and will get it when she is thirsty! It has really helped her stay more active. It is very light weight, and easy to pack. There is a slot to attach a small carabiner. I have found that turning it inside out and giving it a couple shakes gets it to dry in about 20 minutes. Perfect for quick stops hiking or driving. A must have for any big dog!
Great for Quick Sips on the Trail and in the Car
I was worried my dog wouldn't like to drink from this type of bowl, but she has no problem sticking her nose in for a quick sip on the trail or in the car. Its easy to shove in your pocket, your pack, or your car door when not in use. I've had no issues with water leaking or seeping through the outer part of the bowl and have left water in this all day for my dog to use when I was away at work. It's very easy to clean. I can also say its durable because other dogs at the park have mistaken it for a chew toy, and we've gotten it back unscathed after a couple tug o' war matches with unruly pups.
Spend your money on something better
I love Ruff Wear! I own many things from them; beds, pads, backpack, sleeping bag, car seat cover, jacket, and other bowls. I have no complaints about any of their products but this bowl. If I put water in it the inside and outside of the bowl becomes soaked. If I put food in it the bowl it so light weight my dog always pushes it around and cant get the last ten pieces out. My suggestion, don't waste your money on this bowl. I question whom ever designed it.
Nice bowl but my dog refused to use
Let me start off my saying that I love Ruffwear gear, and that I had no problems with this product's manufacturing. However, my dog refused to eat or drink from these fabric bowls. I purchased both the cinch-tied and quencher bowls for my beagle. He refused to use the fabric bowls to eat or drink from, no matter what special treats I put in the bowl. REI was great about taking these back and I ended up purchasing two Sea-to-Summit collapsible bowls, made out of plastic and rubber, instead. My beagle eats and drinks out the collapsible bowls with no issues.
Perfect for backpacking with your dog
We bought this bowl and the cinch top for trips with our Viszla. This one works great for a water dish. It keeps its shape while filled and doesn't spill while he's drinking out of it. The waterproof lining works perfectly (keeps water for hours and never soaks through to the next layer). Also the clip hook on the bowl is great for clipping the bowl outside your backpack until it dries out.
Lightweight and great for hiking
Got these recently for our pup to take hiking/backpacking. There isn't much to it. They're lightweight, small and easy to pack. You can fold the top over if there is still food in them and it doesn't fall out (when kept in his ruffwear pack). The one minor drawback was, when we fed him, the excess material on the inside layer folded over and covered up some of the food. He thought he was done when there was still some food in the bowl. We just had to shake it a bit and then show it to him again. Like I said... minor drawback.
Ruffwear Quencher Collapsible Dog Bowl
My dog prefers the collapsible dog bowl to his regular water bowl when he's at home. Absolutely no problem adjusting to the Ruffwear bowl. In the Sandia mountains of New Mexico, this bowl is a great way keep your dog hydrated.
