Sizing notes

Inseam varies depending on style. Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smaller and thinner than previous versions I have a couple of pairs that are from about 2007 that are only now (2015) starting to wear out. My old ones are size small and have fit the same way since that time, and not stretched out. I just bought a couple of pairs of smalls from this year and they're definitely shorter in the rise (so they're not providing as much coverage front or back for the same size). They're also a thinner material with a tighter band at the leg to make up for the flimsiness in order for them to stay in place. This means it digs into my leg more and is more visible through clothing. I'm trying out mediums and larges now, and hoping these hold up half as well as the old version. With the sad state of functional, non-hideous women's underwear these are still pretty great, but I wish they hadn't made all the recent changes : /

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warning--2015 tiny bit smaller than previous I absolutely loved these. For several years I've worn them even for my everyday ware, as why not? BUT this year's version is about 1/2 inch shorter, i.e. the waste band portion is 1/2 inch narrower, than they were before. They still fit ok. But if you imagine this is exactly what you bought last year, keep that in mind. Probably won't make a huge difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Underwear I've Ever Owned Patagonia makes the best underwear I've ever owned. I own a few different cuts and they're all great. They don't move, don't show underwear lines, breath well and are super comfortable. I plan to retire all my other underwear. I find that all Patagonia products run a little small. I am a size 8/10 and order the large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2015 edition seems thinner I have several pairs of the Patagonia Active Hipsters from 2013, 2014, and just bought a pair of the 2015 version. (They put the year inside with all the tag-type info). I've read previous complaints about taking too long to dry- the newest pair seems thinner than the others, so hopefully this will have solved the issue! These are my favorite undies for general hiking/outdoor activities, under bike shorts (no seams!) and even just for wearing under regular work clothes (less VPL than regular cotton undies!) An older pair has just recently started to come unsewn where the waistband is folded over, but I've gotten lots of wear out of them and I think it'll be quite a few more wears/washes before it renders them unwearable. The yellow color has been gradually getting a grayish tint over time, probably due to poor laundry-sorting practices, but that's the tradeoff for a light enough color to wear under thin/light pants!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stays put This is the best pair of active undies you can buy. They stay put through yoga class, keep me dry during cardio, and are super comfy. I just wish they had a nude pair since yoga pants tend to be semi-transparent. Much better than my pairs from Lululemon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love these! These are my favorite! They are comfortable, dry fast, and last many washes. I can't imagine wearing anything else on a daily basis. the only con is the newer versions are made of a material that is much thinner and more prone to running like panty hose :( I hope they go back to a thicker fabric. I've been trying to convert my mom and sisters :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these! I bought these and a pair of Ex-Officio low rise bikini briefs (with the lace) at the same time. I LOVE these. I now have 3 pairs and never were the Ex-of. They stay put (no wedgies yea!), they are cute, and dry quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great underwear! I love these underwear! I wore them on the Inca Trail and they were incredibly comfortable. They stay put, dry quickly, and are well worth the investment.

I'm in-between sizes. Do you recommend sizing up or down?

Asked by: coop123
We would recommend sizing up in the Active Hipster Briefs if you are between sizes.

Asked by: Sherry0913

I purchased a couple pairs in the store, but I can't find care instructions on them. Regular or gentle wash? Water temp? Tumble or line dry? Help! They're too expensive to screw up in the wash.

Asked by: molliem
We recommend washing the Active Hipster Briefs with cold water on the gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent and do not use any bleach or fabric softeners. They can be tumble dried on low heat.

Why does the tag say nylon, but the specs say polyester? Which one is it?

Asked by: EKNY
These briefs are 94% nylon and 6% spandex. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will update shortly.

I have women's underwear Spring 2009, Cut 5607, Style 32405, Size Small. What is the closest match to this pair in style and size, given the changes that have been made to product line since then? The ones I have are PERFECT and didn't need fixing.

Asked by: LaCasinera
The Patagonia Active Hipster Briefs are going to be the most comparable to your version; they are the same style of the Active Hipster Briefs you have and will have a very similar fit.
