Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Typical Underwear, fancy materials
As others said the crotch is very narrow but between the small and the medium it's about the same width. If you don't mind a little extra fabric for your bottom go up. If you want them skin tight, then stick to the size chart. According to the size chart I'm small but I found the medium way more comfortable. The gusset front sits way too far back and is not stitched in place, which is a shame because there's the beautiful stitching on the front already. Why not use that for a full front gusset? Then there's no rolling fabric and no chance of chaffing. I'll use these as much as I can but for the price point I really am disappointed. There should be more photos and description to this item.
nice merino underwear
I'm between a small and medium in REI underwear (5'3" about 125 pounds) I went with the medium. The waist band is a bit snugger than I anticipated, but the undies stay in place. I wear jockey size 5 bikini underwear normally. The legs holes on these hipsters are larger than what I'm used to, but I did get used to them. When I first tried them on and wore around the house, they wedgied a bit (I think they're just a skosh too big in the butt) but underclothes and working outside on the farm, they stayed in place and worked great
Not plus-sized proportions, but useable
Obviously not designed for a plus size body, but it's workable. The crotch is a bit too narrow and the rise is extremely low on someone with a "pooch", but there's enough coverage in the back, which I appreciate. I probably won't wear these on the regular, but they'll be useful for travel. I normally wear a 2X and bought a 3XL.
Best One I Have Found
I tried merino underwear from all the brands I could find and this one fit the best. For those of us with a big booty it can be hard to find underwear that fit. These cover me, stay in place and don't bind or rub anywhere. They are not sexy, but are great for hiking and trail running as they dry quickly and don't hold odor. I agree that the waist band is not my favorite, but if it is the reason these stay in place then I will take it (not sure about underwear engineering).
The coziest underwear you'll ever own
I'd always wondered if merino wool underwear would be uncomfortably hot, and I'm happy to report that even hiking in 95 degree weather in Florida (plus 96% humidity!) these did overheat the undercarriage. Not that I would choose to wear them in that heat again, they were slightly warm, but it was good to know that the merino wool really does adjust to current conditions and keep your body comfortable. Gave them four stars instead of five because I would consider them seasonal. I will say that these were super cozy, fine at the office, and I'm looking forward to wearing them outdoors in cold weather. The fabric is nice and soft, and the fit was just right for me. I have a size S, which is what I usually wear. Elastic is comfortable, and not tight on the legs. Overall a good pair of underwear.
soft, breathable, and comfortable
These Merino hipster briefs are incredibly soft, lightweight, breathable and comfortable to wear. For backpacking, these will wash and dry quickly, making them a must-have for your backcountry trips. The wide hip band rests comfortably on your hips and the bands around the leg holes are thin and soft, which helps to prevent any digging or chaffing into your skin. Having worn these several times now, they will be on my next shopping list!
Lovely fabric but the fit isn’t for me
The merino fabric is great but the fit is odd. The waistband is quite tight, while the rest of the fabric is almost baggy feeling. The waist also seems quite high for hipsters. Finally, the crotch is more narrow than I’d prefer.
So comfortable!
I have a skin condition that flares up with most synthetic fabrics, or the slightest chafing or tightness along the bikini line, and the fit and material of these have been completely non-irritating and comfortable, even when I am sweating. I ordered up a size from the size chart to accommodate a long torso/long rise, which I have to do with most underwear.
Keeps you cool when you’re moving fast!
These underwear are my new go-to for backpacking. They keep you dry when you’re sweaty and are great at not being smelly, even after a sweaty day! The fit is a little tight though around my thighs where the ring of color is.that fabric is not as stretchy.
My new favorite!
These are the best. Underwear is so different by body type, and I know other people have expressed various issues, but to me these are perfect. They are soft, they stay in place, and don’t show panty lines in my favorite thin hiking pants. I’m slim but have a butt, so it’s always hard for me to find underwear that fits right and stays put. They also have kept shape after washing and drying. Worth the $
