Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I expected. Originally, I saw the duffel in my local store in Oregon and during a trip to Alaska, I needed a way to contain several items for the trip back home. The Anchorage REI store had the bags and it proved to be exactly what I needed and not expensive. My smaller sports bag, a small, soft-sided cooler, several new books and souvenirs all fit inside. The detachable shoulder strap is sturdy, and adjustable to actually sling over one's shoulder comfortably. Easy to spot that bright red color among all the other checked bags at the airport, too. Best of all, it *easily* folded up and tucked back inside the zipper bag attached to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ample room, rather durable We bought this duffel bag because the bag that once held our Coleman 4-man tent shredded on a recent camping trip. We needed something with handles, something that wouldn't shred and something that would hold the tent and poles. So far, we've loved the bag. It has a ton of room in it and works well. Recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No problems. I bought this duffel for a motorcycle trip. It stands up well with hard use and has good zippers. I expect to get many years of good use out of this. The manufacturer had a great idea for the way one zippered end turned inside out becomes its own stuff sack for compact storage. Can also be used as a pillow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for long trips I recently purchased this duffel for a hiking trip to Arizona. It was very durable and provided ample room for all of my gear. Only con would be that it could have better zippers for a travel lock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable I picked this up, about a month, ago, and have found it to be quite a reliable product. It's sturdy, the zipper is tough, and I like the shoulder strap / handle setup. I think that it is particularly useful for immediate storage of items (in my case , camping) which you might, or might not, need at the moment, but which you shove in the car trunk, just in case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hiking List Bag I wanted a duffel bag to put most of my items from the Hiking Essential List. I was debating between an X-Large or Large, and chose Large. I was able to get ALL of the list, plus shoes. It has a nice compartment on the side in which I placed anything liquid and other small items. The straps seem to be strong as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice duffel but low quality zipper The duffel is well designed, nice fabric weight for durability. Unfortunately the zipper is not of the same durability and it jammed after two years of use. The zipper should have been much heavier quality. Unfortunately it costs as much as a new duffel to replace the zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for traveling! Love this duffel. Got one for both my daughter and myself. We love them. The size is great for 5 days worth of clothes.

Would be able to use the large duffle bag as a carry on? Or is the Med a better size. Thanks

Asked by: DjQwes
This duffel measures 30 x 14 x 14 inches. The medium measures 24 x 12 x 12 inches. Most airlines require a piece of carry-on luggage to be no bigger than 45 linear inches (L + W + H) to meet carry-on size restrictions. This can vary so please check with your airline ahead of time.

Hello, I'm looking for a large duffle to minimalize the number of bags I will be bringing to Nepal for 27 months. This is for service in the Peace Corps- so I will be living in a community for this time. Is this sturdy for international travel?

Previous comment states that you do no recommend this duffle for African safari. Is this still accurate. I need soft sided duffle no more that 30x15x14 for a 2 week safari to Botswana.

Asked by: kdp14
The Roadtripper Duffel is a great lightweight duffel, but it may not be tough enough to be used as a checked bag on a long trip.

Approximately how much clothes fit in this bag? Good for a week long road trip?

Asked by: Andyt1488
We are unable to say for certain how many clothes you will be able to fit in this bag as that is highly dependent on the type of clothes you are packing. However, most customers do find they are able to pack a week's worth of clothes into this bag.

Can this duffle withstand being used as checked luggage? Going to Africa, safari company will not accept conventional luggage

Asked by: irulan
While this duffel is well made for its weight, we wouldn't recommend this for an extensive trip. Duffels like the Patagonia Black Hole Duffels would be better suited for long trips.

Looking for a duffel that I can use as a checked baggage cover for my Osprey Aether 70. Would the large Roadtripper work for this? Thanks.

Asked by: Kitsap Hiker
You might instead consider a pack duffel. Here is a link:
