Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product, slim fit This jacket is quite nice for the price. It has a nice mesh layer throughout the jacket body and a windproof layer in the sleeves. I've worn this jacket several times already in the rain and sleet (some of it quite heavy) and have found that it functions quite well. The one complaint I have about this jacket is that it does fit a little slim and tight in the shoulders and throughout the body. Normally, I would attribute it to the brand, but I have had Columbia rain jackets in the past that have not had this same issue. Only a complaint because I do tend to wear my rain jackets to fend off sleet regularly and layering is vital.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I still love my non-waterproof rain jacket. This jacket is comfortable and perfect for short walks in light rain, which is mostly what I use it for. It's also a great windbreaker in the cold, and fits nicely over insulating layers. If you need to stand outside in the rain for over 30 minutes however, I recommend getting something else. I took it on a rainy backpacking weekend and it ended up completely, thoroughly soaked very quickly. Luckily I had a $1 plastic poncho as a backup to keep me dry, which was very effective, but horrifically unflattering.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof I really wanted to love this jacket, it's a great weight for running and hiking but it is NOT waterproof. Maybe water resistant in a very light drizzle but it is not a rain jacket. Perhaps if you are looking for a light jacket for running errands it would be OK but I've worn it twice in drizzly to rainy weather (not hard downpour), once hiking and another time fly fishing, and got soaked both times.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap fabric I just bought this jacket but am going back and forth trying to decide if I should return it. My main concern is that the fabric feels really cheap and makes crunchy noises with every movement. It also has that shiny plastic look of a much cheaper jacket. I just wanted to share for the benefit of anyone considering buying online. The one thing I do like is the mesh liner because it means no plastic feeling against skin when worn with a short sleeve shirt. Contrary to other reviews, I think it is true to size. I have another Columbia rain jacket in the same size that I can no longer zip comfortably past my chest, this one has room for a couple base layers without being overly tight. I may keep just because for the price it isn't that bad and at least comes with REI's guarantee.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Arcadia II Rain Jacket The fabric is quite noisy when moving around so the garment is not good for wildlife watching. The colors are very visible as well which is not always a plus. I would love to have brown included in the coat selection every year. On the plus side, it is waterproof and it has very roomy pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good rain jacket This jacket has done a good job of waterproofing my teenage daughter in the rain, which is its main job. It breathes, so it doesn't feel like wearing a trash bag. The materials, tailoring, cut, style and colors are good. A lot of people advise getting a size larger than normal for this product and that is reasonable advice as the cut is a bit small and it is nice to have room to put a sweatshirt underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket I bought this jacket to replace another Omni Tech jacket which I had loved. It fits perfectly with a light jacket or fleece underneath. I bought my usual size, a small. I wear it as a shell in the winter and rain jacket when warmer. So far it has not rained so I haven't been able to test that but if it is like my previous jacket, it will withstand all day rains. I have worn it as a shell in snow, cold temperatures and high wind gusts and it has been great. I bought it in the Bluebell color.

Are there two drawcords around the hem of the jacket (one on each side of the hips)? Or is there just one?

Asked by: allietikerpuu
There is only one drawcord on the hem of the jacket. The drawcord is on the right side of the hem.

Hi, this jacket is listed under packable, yet there is a comment in the ratings that it is NOT packable. Please let me know for sure if it is or isn't???? Thanks

Asked by: LynnH
The comment is incorrect. The left front hand pocket has a two-sided zipper pull that works when you pull the jacket through the pocket to form the stuff sack. The pocket/stuff sack is meshed lined.

Is this jacket suitable for Scotland hiking in the rain?  Will it keep me dry?

Asked by: tropical gal
The Arcadia II Rain Jacket would be a great choice for your trip to Scotland. Columbia uses their Omni-Tech waterproof/breathable membrane which will keep you dry and block the wind.
