Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great everyday carry. For camping or expeditions, I'd need a lot more capacity than this bottle provides but for everyday use, it's a great product. Last week, I took it on two day hikes, for a day shopping in the city and to the ballpark, for an afternoon of sun and disappointment:-) I forgot to empty it at the airport security but the 27 ounces are an easy quick swallow, when necessary. The sport cap works well- a good flow when you want and pretty secure when you don't. The bottle is easy to clean but a little slippery to handle. A versatile bottle, that I'll use very regularly- well made and a pleasing design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised. I've been using this product for nearly one month now, and have had only 2 minor issues it. 1) The plastic cap that comes with the bottle does impart some plastic like flavors during the first few uses. Although this taste does fade away, it is unpleasant while it lasts. 2) The rubber air valve on the cap does leak occasionally. It is not a consistent leak, though. If you touch the air valve with the container upside down, or on its side, it will leak. Also, when taking a drink the liquid on or near the airvalve will be propelled onto your face from the force of the water. Like I said, these are minor issues. All can be resolved with care or buying a screw off cap.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great design hate the plastic cap odor Even though the older version had a plastic cap which made whistling bird noises when you drank from it from the pressure release valve it was still better than this new version which although more efficient in design has a strong plastic odor from the cap. The kanteen itself is great but since the water needs to pass through the cap to get to your lips there's no avoiding the plastic smell which defeats the purpose of buying a non-plastic water bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Customer Support I've purchased Klean Kanteen products over the past 4 years. We've taken these products hiking, camping, as well as to and from work every day. As you might expect there have been many accidental drops during this span of time. Though the product will ding and dent it has never broken until recently (4 years of abuse btw). I wrote Klean Kanteen hoping for an exchange and instead I was given a brand new bottle no questions asked! Thank you to Kalen at Returns, Warranty, and Credit Support. Your help was very much appreciated and I will continue to remain an avid supporter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Bottle Won't Let You Down This is my preferred water bottle on day hikes and backpacking trips. I like the narrower profile of these bottles. At 27 oz. they are only a few oz. short of a liter and they easily tuck into a pack's side pockets. I also find the KK bottles easier to grab and hold. I sometimes hike with one gripped in my hand or hold it by the loop built into the cap. The weight of the stainless steel is negligible. The new 3.0 sport cap is fast flowing and quiet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hydration-sensation! I bought this for my wife who was told by her doctor that she needed to drink more water. I thought if you have a cool container that's easy to fill and drink from, the work is "just a bit easier." The Klean Kanteen fits the bill because it's easy to fill, the sport top makes it easy to drink from, without worrying about it tipping over and my wife doesn't like drinking from a straw, so this works very well. I highly recommend this bottle. Great stuff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice bottle. Room for improvement. I bought my blue 27oz bottle two months ago. I use it daily at the office for drinking water, replacing a plastic jug I used for several years. I chose Klean Kanteen over concerns about chemicals in plastics leaching into drinks. The design of the bottle is attractive. It looks good. The spout works well, producing a really nice flow of water. The air valve makes a fairly loud bubbling noise when drinking. The bottle is easy to carry by the body or the loop built into the plastic cap. While nice for carrying, the loop also gets in my way when drinking. I have to intentionally rotate the bottle so the loop is to the left or right. It hits my nose if the loop is facing "up" when drinking. No part of the cap has leaked. When I first began using the bottle, there was a very strong plastic-y taste added to the water. The only plastic on this bottle is the cap and spout. I don't think I was filling the bottle full enough that water remained in contact with the inside of the cap, so the flavor must have come from a single pass through the cap/spout. This really surprised and disappointed me, especially because I chose this bottle specifically to get away from plastics and the chemicals/taste leaching into my drinking water. After the first few weeks of daily use, the plastic-y taste subsided. Two months after purchase, there is no noticeable off-taste at all. My plastic jug gave water a plastic-y taste after only one night. Now, the water I put in my Klean Kanteen the previous Friday still tastes fresh Monday morning. The blue paint on this bottle is really attractive. Unfortunately, it began flaking off of the bottom of the bottle where it contacts my desk after about a month of use. Mind you, this is daily light use. The bottle sits at my desk all day. I pick it up to drink and to take it to the break room. It never sits on anything more rough than a smooth desk or granite counter top. This is disappointing, considering how lightly my bottle is used and how quickly the paint began flaking off. I would definitely buy a non-painted brushed stainless steel bottle next. I'm not sure I would purchase a painted bottle again. The bottle dents somewhat easily. I have one small dent where I accidentally hit it on the edge of the break room counter. Water readily condenses on the bottle when filled with a cold liquid. This is to be expected from an non-insulated metal bottle. This has never been a problem, especially since I knew to expect it. I don't put ice in the bottle if I'm taking it to a meeting. Overall, this is a nice bottle and I may buy another in the future. I don't think I would ever buy a Klean Kanteen bottle with the painted exterior again. These bottles are pricey. Given my experience with the plastic-y cap/spout taste and the poor durability of the painted surface, I think they are too expensive. Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend, though with some reservations and followed quickly by the previously mentioned qualifications.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to carry, but leaks/spills too often. With the narrow neck, this water bottle is easy to carry and the plastic hook as part of the cap enables it to be secured easily, but... if you don’t shut the valve completely or even after completing a drink, the valve often leaks and you will often have spillage. At 27 oz, it can certainly carry a reasonable amount of water, but unless you’re very careful with your drinks, be prepared for some leakage. As a result, I don’t use it for primary day to day use.

Questions & Answers

Does this sport top require sipping, like through a straw to drink? Or, will it pour freely once opened?

Asked by: laurenr
The 27oz Stainless-Steel Water Bottle with Sport Cap does not come with a straw. You would have to open the cap and tip the bottle back like a glass.

It specifies the bottle is dishwasher safe, bit what about the sport cap?

Asked by: marycnorris
The Sport Cap is dishwasher safe, as is the unpainted, Stainless Steel version of the bottle. Klean Kanteen does recommend hand washing the painted versions of this bottle to prolong the life of the finish.
