Features

  • At the heart of the Click'R design is a light, easy-to-engage cleat spring that makes it quick and simple to clip in and clip out of the pedals
  • Reduced effort offers the efficiencies of a clipless system with little fuss—put a foot down fast for unexpected stops or step in casually when you're ready to roll
  • Plus, the amount of heel twist required to disengage is less than other clipless pedals, so you pop out of the pedals easier and sooner
  • Because of the easy-to-use design, these also work great for bike touring, commuting, leisure riding or any other riding where you make frequent stops
  • Pedals feature the convenience of dual-side entry; pop-up cages within the pedals grab cleats for fast, easy engagement
  • Spring tension can be adjusted to your preference
  • Integrated reflectors are built into the pedal body platforms for enhanced visibility
  • SPD cleats are included with the Shimano Click'R PD-T400 bike pedals; please note that the SPD cleats will only work with 2-hole SPD-compatible shoes

Creaking badly in less than 2 weeks

These were a great introduction to clipless pedaling. I finally switched from platforms with toe clips after 20 years of bike commuting. The Click'R pedals were key to that, so easy to clip in and out, along with SH56 multi-directional clip-out cleats. However, within 2 weeks these developed a horrible clicking and creaking, so bad I returned them and got XT Trail SPD pedals. I don't know if it's a weakness inherent in the floating plastic cage, or I just got a bad sample. I was able to eliminate other possible sources of creaking by trying different shoes and pedals. It wasn't the bottom bracket either, it was definitely the pedals.

I wish I'd switched to clipless sooner

I've had these pedals and the click'r CT40 shoes for a little over a month now and I love them. I now know what everyone talked about with power lost on the upstroke while pedaling with platform pedals. Hills are much easier and it's easier to get up to speed from a dead stop at a red light in city traffic where you have to fight for your space on the road. If you're at all thinking about getting these they are worth the $$!

Really great buy

I currently do not ride with clip in shoes, so I love that this pedal works well with regular tennis shoes. However, I know I will be purchasing clip in shoes sometime in the near future. It is nice to know that I will not have to constantly change out my pedals depending on my shoes or ride preference. Also, the fact that you can clip in or pedal in regular shoes from either side of the pedal makes this a definite winner.

First clipless pedal

Great pedal! Easy in and out. Never unintentionally unclipped even on strenuous climbs. Super easy to get out. My retention settings are stock. Mounted right out of the box! Bought a pair for my wife! Float is a little more than expected but this will be my pedal for a long long time

Good multi-purpose pedal

These are my first clipless pedals and I am very pleased. The learning curve was effortless -- which may or may not be a result of the "Click'R" design. I wear Shimano MT33 shoes, which do not have the Click'R feature, but they lock in to the pedals remarkably easy.

Great with clipless shoes, not so much with street

Been using them for about 2 years now. Never come unclipped and never got hung up in them either. Mostly commuting, some charity rides. Yes you can ride with regular shoes, but if they are soft soled anything over a few miles get pretty uncomfortable.

Great for First Time Users

I previously purchased the T-700 and needed a cheaper second pair of Shimano Click'R that is similar for my other bike which I really loved. They are perfect for my Shimano CT40 shoes. Both are great products especially for easy entry/exit. Ideal for riders who want to try clipless for the first time.

Easy first Pedal Clamp System

I bought this bike pedal system because 1. I'm 72 years old and wanted an easy unclip mechanism 2. It's is my first clip system 3. It was an inexpensive system that wouldn't break the bank if I didn't like it. After installing the pedals and included shoe clips, my initial trial at a mid-level tension proved the clipping mechanism was very easy to unclip. I set the tension to the highest level to prevent unexpected release. I ride on Portland, OR excellent bike paths and we'll marked bike path streets. My typical ride is 20 miles. I highly recommend the Click'R SPD system for my type of riding. It's easy to unclip at stops, and secure enough to tension strong enough to prevent unwanted release during city and paved trail riding. Maybe I wish I had chosen the higher quality Click'R system to begin with.

overall good

These pedals are great with clip in shoes. However, I don't understand why they are supposed to be easy to use with regular shoes. The platform is not flat as the cleat hook sticks out and you feel an unpleasant bump while wearing regular shoes. This sort of makes them useless to me as dual functioning pedals. Otherwise, very easy to enter and exit with cleats. I mistakenly ordered the white pedals, they look really silly and very clunky on my road bike but I'm stuck with them for now.

Easiest Clipless Ever

Everything Shimano says about the Click'r pedals is true. These are by far the easiest pedals to clip into and out of. I have ridden 150 miles with these pedals and have not had an i=unintended release. I did opt for the SPD 51 cleats since I do like to pull and push the pedals and I think the SPD 56 cleats would release with a firm pull (unverified).
