Lite isn't good in this case.
The Terra Fi Lite is comfortable and requires no break in period. It looks a little less chunky than previous models. The sad part is that it provides little support for hiking or spending much time on your feet. I have 2 pair of Terra Fi 2s that are wonderful and supportive, with necessary rigidity for hiking. My husband and I both got a pair of this Lite model after wearing Tevas for many years. My husband describes it as mushy and worthless for hiking. I sent mine home from Italy because they weren't supporting enough for many hours of walking. I'm heartbroken that I can't count on Teva for hiking or walking sandals any longer.
My favorite pair of Tevas EVER!
Although I wear my Terra Fis just about any time I go out, my husband and I just finished a 7 mile hike in the Maryland Heights trail in the Harpers Ferry Appelachian Trail yesterday and my Tevas performed perfectly. Admittedly, I was a little apprehensive about parts of the trail that were especially steep and rocky, but aside from some inevidable gravel getting in between my foot and shoe from time to time, I always had great traction and my feet never got sore or rubbed. I've been sold on Tevas since I bought my first pair back in 1992 when my only real option was basic black. I've had a pair of Tevas in my closet ever since and plan to from now on. Thanks for such a great product!
Better than Chacos
Great product. I bought a pair of Chacos last year and returned them for these. The Chacos were too much shoe for me and felt borderline dangerous to have such a platform of a shoe I would do light hiking in, basically asking to fall. These are much better, lighter weight, attractive, grippy and have a soft cushion to the foot bed. Only complaint is that it takes a bit to find the sweet spot on the straps, go even a little too tight and you'll cut off circulation. That's easily fixable. Buy them and enjoy them. I got the blue and they're great!
Good enough, once you get used to them
I really wanted like these shoes a lot upon first look but I must admit that they took a little getting used to for me because I consistently felt that the back strap was going to slide down from my ankle. Then I realized that it just sat low and learned to deal. The shoes are comfortable after breaking them in, and are able to be adjusted in multiple places which is nice. I will say that as a short person (5'2") with relatively small feet (6.5), these do look a little clunky on me, but otherwise I think they're really pretty good sandals. I wore them for the first time this weekend on a hiking trip and used them for general walking around on the campsite and very light trails. I don't think they could be used for any sort of extensive hiking. All in all a decent shoe once you get used to them.
Awesome shoes!!!
I bought my first pair of tevas last year and I wore them every single day, even in the winter! I live way down south so winters are mild. I am a big outdoor enthusiast and so I wore them on lots of different terrains. They finally gave out this summer after hiking on the AT. I immediately bought my new pair when I got a chance. I was not sure how they would be since they are different from my older pair but as soon as I opened the box I was in love! I love the green color, it's really bright! The shoe itself has a lot of padding on the straps, making them extremely comfy and the sole is comfortable also. It's soft and squishy but supports my feet! Overall, I think that they are great.
Fell apart!
I needed comfortable sandals for walking, especially before a trip to Europe and was excited when I found these. I wore them a couple of times before leaving to break them in. The first time I wore them on my trip, I had walked barely a block when my right sandal broke. The strap looked like it had barely been stitched. I was devastated and even tweeted Teva, with no response. Luckily, I was told of a cobbler nearby who was able to fix it for less than 5 Euro - and it was clear he knew what he was doing. I am very lucky, but this makes me reluctant to purchase this brand again, especially with the lack of customer service.
Really adjustable, great arch support
Just got my Teva Terra Fi Lite sandals. They are really great in that all of the straps are adjustable. I really like this as it will be great to adjust during different conditions. I love the arch support, which make these sandals better that 95% of other sandals with flat bottoms. I think they will have great traction for hiking, etc. but have not tested as its Feb! Only issue is that the heel strap is low in the back. I can foresee that it might slip a little in the summer. But it also might not be an issue; just something to consider. I got these on sale bc they were last year's color. I am so pleased with the sale price that I got, $20ish! I think these are a great buy.
Not the same Terra Fi I loved
This is NOT the Terra Fi I have loved and lived in for years. These are not as rugged, much narrower and shorter. The toe straps are so short I can't even get them to hook. There is not as much arch support either. The first time I tried on a pair of Terra Fi 2s my feet just melted into them and had never been so happy. I wear them everyday, year around even in the snow. These new Terra Fi Lites just don't live up to that. I will be returning them asap. My feet are NOT happy and I am NOT amused.
Love this shoe!
I walk the beach daily with my Golden Retreivers and these are perfect! I never thought I'd find a Teva product good as my Pretty Ruggeds. These are great for narrow feet with 4 separate straps to adjust. Each strap interface is well padded so makes for very comfortable walking.
Perfect for water activities
I bought these Teva's specifically for water use. I have a pair of Keen's, but I noticed my feet became hot and sweaty quickly since they did not have an open toe. I was looking for a pair of water shoes that I could use while whitewater rafting and kayaking. The Teva's are perfect for water sport activities because the adjustable straps (a total of 4) allow me to securely fit the sandals to my feet. I don't have to worry about these sandals coming off my feet when I go down the river because of the solid heel strap. I do agree with another review that the heel strap is a little low and it may require getting use to. Overall these Teva's are durable and have met my needs on the water.
