Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good pants except... I am a very active teenager and i hike, camp, bike, etc etc with boy scouts and with my family. I have gone through several pairs of rain pants over the years and these just aren't good pants for active hikers. The material is great. It is very waterproof and breathable. But actually using them on the trail is a huge shortcoming. There is no leg zip so they are impossible to get on over boots. If youre hiking and it starts downpouring you have to take off your boots to get these pants on. Huge design flaw. I have found myself putting these on in the morning if there is eve a slight chance or rain that day. If they had the zipper I would love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep you dry Bought these for the 5 Boro Bike Tour. Kept me 100% dry while riding in the rain for 4+ hours. The inside of the pants feels kinda nasty -- which I think is normal with waterproof pants -- so I wore some light tights. Worked great for the 50deg weather we had but could overheat in warmer weather. Size Large fit me perfect (5'3" woman). All the grown-up sized pants were way too long. It would be nice if there was a long zipper or velcro on the side to make them easier to get on/off with shoes and/or to dump heat. The grown-up pants sometimes have this feature. But these pants were 20% the cost of grown-up pants, so I'm very pleased!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Great for Frequent Use My 3 year old wears these pants for outdoor preschool 2 days a week. They keep his underlayers nice and dry, which is great, but the inseam developed holes pretty quickly. Nothing a little duct tape on the inside couldn't fix.. These are probably not built for such frequent use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse Pants, buying again Both my son and I have these pants in xxs and xl respectively. I've used mine for a rainy season walking/ biking daily and they've held up with only minor wear at the cuffs. I compared these in store to the ladies and they were practically identical, so I saved a few $ and bought the boys. I'm 5'9" 145 for reference. My son's pants have held up equally well with a full season of hard use and outdoor play daily in preschool. We're buying him the next size up since he's grown 3".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pants, but first pair ripped These pants are great for my daughters, who are long and lean, for hiking, xc-skiing, rain, etc. They are light weight, great as on outer layer, with useful pockets. One pair ripped, likely due to hard use though not worn frequently, so our experience is that they are not super strong/resiliant. That said, I'm ordering another pair because the style and fit work for us.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waterproof, but not very breathable Good simple rain pants, better to wear over other pants. I wore these pants over regular hiking pants in the rain for 3+ hours and I stayed very dry. But when I wore these pants by itself, it got wet and sticky on the inside due to it not being very breathable, and it wasn't even raining then.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from for the backcountry gangsta Waist too high, crotch too low, constantly falling down (no drawstring or belt loops). I'm normally a women's medium in streetwear, so these must be for some giant, strangely proportioned children. They did keep me dry throughout a rainy backpacking trip, and did not tear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good for warmth as well as keeping dry I wore these every day on a wilderness volunteer trip. The rain pants were good for the light rain we encountered but they were especially good for an extra layer of warmth.
