Great Value
It came down to a decision between this stand and the Park PCS-10. I went with this stand because it saved me $30. Every time I use it, I'm happy with my decision. The stand is sturdy and a breeze to set up. It came assembled in the box, so you'll avoid having to put it together. The lock knobs offer a secure connection and allow for easy height adjustment and lower leg stability. Securing the bike is accomplished by placing the seatpost between locking jaws on the clamp arm. Instructions expressly recommend using the seatpost as opposed to any frame tubes. If you're looking for a lightweight stand to do minor repairs and tuneups, it's hard to go wrong with this stand.
Value Point for Weekend Bike Mechanic
I’m an occasional bike mechanic - I don’t go to races, but we’ve got 4 bicyclists in the family and rather than go broke with tune ups, two to three times per year I’ll do some maintenance or repairs. This stand is the value point for the weekend mechanic who isn’t swapping out bike-afte-bike onto the stand. If that’s you, get the next tier up Feedback Sports Pro-Elite ($$$). Otherwise, save your money and deal with turning a knob once in a while. My only other caveat is the weight limit, so it’s not the right stand if you’re working on large tandems or e-bikes (>65 lbs). An all around great stand! Makes me wonder how I worked so long without one!
A lot of stand for the money
This is a great bike repair stand, especially for the cost. For the price you would expect the stand to be thin tubing and not very sturdy but its the exact opposite- very burly construction, extremely sturdy and appears very durable. That is also the downside to this stand, as its pretty thick and doesnt get as compact as the more expensive stands. For me its perfect because I only intend on using it at home and could care less how compact/lightweight it is- still fits under the bed or in the trunk though. If your debating between this and the lower end park stands, you will not be disappointed with this one.
Broken
This stand has been such a huge disappointment from day one. All of the pieces to the clamp prob of the stand have felt cheap and lose and rattling from day one with nothing to actually tighten. Now after only three months of use, approx. 5x a week or so the clamp has to have a screw driver jammed in it in order to actually tighten because it's stripped out... I assume the pro-elite version is of a higher quality, I certainly can't recommend anyone buy this garbage. Super bummed and realize I should have just spent the extra money on a park tool one. Big blue may not be perfect but I have rarely, if ever been let down...
Works great and fits pretty much anythin
This stand works great and is a great value, especially when you can find it on sale or use a coupon. I initially bought a bottom bracket support stand (from another store) but it wouldn't work with most of my bikes, either they would rock on the under BB cable guides or it would rub. FWIW most of my bikes are mid-80's - 90's vintage, they may work fine for your bike but this one works great with anything I could think off (with the possible exception of an Allsop Beam bike/no seatpost). The more expensive ones are lighter and the clamps are easier to close one-handed but this stand is a great value for a non-pro user.
Good buy...
I've been a rider for years and have always wanted a repair stand, and finally I got tired of working on my bike upside down on the garage floor. I had looked at some others, and after going into REI and looking at this one, decided to finally take the plunge. I am truly impressed by how sturdy this one is, the clamps hold my mountain bike in place and up high where I need it. I'm 6' and this stand adjusts well to put the bike where I can comfortably work on it. I like that the bike can pivot all the way around. The wide stance of the stand provides good stability when I'm working on my bikes. Easy to use, set up, and fold away. I actually use it to store my bike in the garage, up and out of the way. Excellent product!
Makes Repair/Maintenance Easy
This repair stand works very well for holding my bikes (2 road bikes + 1 mountain), which makes it easy to perform maintenance or repairs. There are 2 reasons why I did not rate it 5 stars: 1) the base legs can be a bit challenging to get extended out when setting it up (not a big deal, but not easy either), and 2) the clamp to hold the bike at the seat post is not easy to maneuver - you have to hold the bike in place while spinning (& spinning & spinning & spinning, etc.) the bolt in order to grab the bike solidly. It would be nicer to have something like a clamp you just push down to grab the bike.
Very nice stand for the money
Love the versatility of height adjustments, 360 degree rotation and ability to change the clamp angle for seatposts, frame, etc. Is very stable and easy to clamp the bike down. Is a little bulky and heavy for easy traveling but folds down nicely so the travel bag may help with ease of taking it on the road. Have to tighten the spin knob pretty tight to keep the front wheel from moving up and down when really putting force on the bike (this is the clamp that holds the arm in place, not the bike so tightening it down does no harm to the bike). Overall, a great stand.
Lightweight Workhorse
I purchased my Ultimate Support stand (BRS-70B) so many years ago that the actual date escapes me, but what does stand out is that it has proven to be a dependable stand and well worth the cost. What I really enjoy about it is the ability to rotate a clamped bike 360° without losing stability. The fact that it collapses for easy storing is equally valuable, especially if your strapped for space. My complaint about the stand is the lack of parts support. After so many years of use, the protective covering around the clamp jaws has begun to flake off exposing bare metal. Went to the manufacturing company and did an online search and was unable to find anyone with replacement jaws. That being said, I would still highly recommend this stand to anyone who dabbles in light personal bike maintenance/repair and doesn't want to spend a lot of money. Good value.
Broken retainer pin
I received the stand and was excited to use it for my trek powerfly 5 FS. After one use the aluminum retaining pin broke in half!!! Sent it back and now I’m on the hunt for a stand .
