All good, Nothing great

This was my first kayak and I love it because of that fact. I've paddled it in Technical Class 2+ that was too much for this boat - but I made it. A little more rocker and we'd be in business. The bow is a little rounded and on Flat Water it tends to push through rather than slice the water, so it can be a little sluggish. Having said that, I've paddled mine countless miles and have camped out of it a few times (it has more space than you realize). I have one of the originals and they have upgraded the seat since then, so you could spend more time in the boat without a numb-butt. The Decking is simple and the Hatch & Bulkhead are solid and keep gear dry without being complicated to use or repair. Overall, this boat does many things pretty well but nothing great. I couldn't make up my mind for Flat Water or WW, so this was my compromise. It's been a good boat for about 16 years now. The seat is torn up now but I'm sending it off to college with my oldest son (who has claimed it as his own). The Blackwater has a lot of life left in it and will continue to try anything he's up for.
