What ORU waiting for?
I had been told about these by some friends at a party and then thought about it for 6 months. I’ve now taken it out 3 times in the first week of owning one. Both on Lake Michigan and nearby calmer rivers. It’s amazing that it’s only 25 pounds and two minutes to set up, and two minutes to pack up. I’m obsessed. I will say, maybe get some gloves. Those thumb blisters look pretty sus at work.
Buy it, best boat ever
This is the best outdoor purchase to date. If it could get any easier the boat would get up and make its self. Easy to set up, easy to take down, easy to stow, easy to carry. So so so awesome. Cant wait for many more trips to come.
Not so quick or easy
The ads promote this as easier and quicker to assemble than it is.

Bought this yesterday and it is so easy to assemble and put away. Loading into my car is even easier. Amazing system
Better than Advertised
This is the first kayak I’ve owned, but I’ve been renting kayaks for 25 years. I’ve been wanting to get a kayak for ~10 years, but it never seemed feasible: Where would I store it? How would I transport it without spending more money on a roof rack? I’ve been eying Oru kayaks for a few years now as they seemed to solve most of my problems and finally took the plunge. Wow, am I glad! I’ve rented a range of kayaks over the years, from abysmal to great and this is high in my list. It tracks beautifully even without having a skeg (and I dare you to find another boat in this category and price range that has one) and is light and maneuverable. The seat and back are comfortable and the paddle is light. I also love that the paddle is height adjustable and the paddles can be feathered to any angle you like! This is an absolutely great bundle! Before I bought our boats, I saw the reviewer saying it wasn’t as easy to set up as advertised and I agree up to a point. It was a bit confusing the first time. The second time, I was able to get explain it to my husband and we took ~10 minutes including time spent referencing the guide. I think I’ll get it down to the 2-3 minutes advertised after a bit more practice. My husband, who’s much less mechanically proficient, will probably get it down to 5 min after a couple more goes. Still, I don’t see how it’s any more trouble than securely attaching a traditional kayak or canoe to a roof rack.
