Great Shorts that wear prematurely - Liner does not hold up.
Shorts are very comfortable, the pockets are excellent, keeps my phone in place with little bounce. However I unfortunately cannot recommend purchasing them to do the premature wear in the liner. I am on my second pair in a few months, brooks replaced them free which was great, but the second pair liner is wearing in the same way as the first, as you see in other reviews on here. I really can’t imagine how I could be causing the wear, and the fact that it happens to others leads me to believe the liners just have an inherent flaw. Too bad, they are nice shirts. But they only seem to last a couple months before getting significant ware.
Like them but room for improvement
I purchased the Sherpa shadow on April 25 and have taken 4 runs with them, my observations: 1. Shorts are lightweight and comfortable - on me they have a tendency to slip down a little in the back 2. Not a fan of the pocket design: I run with a S10(in a protective case) and getting it in and out is an issues vs a regular pocket. If I need quick access to it is not convenient at all. Just getting it to fit in to start takes too much time 3. The overall fit is good, however if you need to tighten them there is not a lot of draw string to work with 4. the 2 in 1 feature works well, for me.
Very Comfortable
I really like these shorts, been searching for a comfortable pair of shorts for awhile and have gone through multiple brands and these are my favorite by far. The phone pocket is great, phone doesn't bounce and you barely notice its there, I never ran with my phone before but I think I will now. The upper storage pockets are great for snacks. Liner is a good thickness and level of compression, I would say medium level of compression, it stays put, had no issues with it riding up at all on a 16 mile run. The cut of the short is great, not too slim but also not overly baggy. I got a size medium, I'm 5"9, 165, 31" waist.
Almost perfect
I bought a pair of these about a year ago and they were awesome so I bought 2 more pairs.. I hate carrying my phone with me when I run, but when my Apple Watch broke I was stuck. The pocket on these shorts is perfect for my iPhone. It holds the phone in place without bouncing around and the side pouches are perfect for gels. I was unsure about the liner at first as I like the UA heat gear boxer briefs, but this does the job and keeps everything where it needs to be. These are lightweight and comfortable, they do a good job of wicking the sweat away so they don’t get too heavy when you sweat or run in the rain.
Really Like the Product - with One Exception
As an aficionado of running shorts with liners - I found these Sherpa 7" 2-in-1 shorts to be exceptional in nearly every way - except one. The fit (medium) was perfect for my build (6' 175lbs) and they are generally quite comfortable whatever the distance and conditions (just not too cold). Pockets are plentiful - and the zipper pocket is great - except there is a small opening that I wish wasn't there. I don't run with a phone typically and only want my zipper pockets to be secure. With the opening - I cannot use the pocket for items that could fall out. Beware if purchasing these shorts with that in mind.
Best trail running shorts out there
My own opinion but these are the best trail running shorts out there. I believe I have about 7 different pairs. The inner lining keeps things in place. The zipper pocket is large enough to fit an iPhone 14 max pro with case without being bulky. The various side pockets can hold a myriad of items (keys, gloves, headlamp) without losing any and without bouncing or feeling bulky. This is my go-to short every time
Comfortable but design flaw
These shorts fit really well. The waistband and liner are very comfortable. My main complaint is the zipper pocket is not fully enclosed, so you can put a key, airpods, or another small item in it and still possibly lose that item through the bottom of the shorts between the liner and outside layer. The stitching for the inside of the pocket should go all the way to the top of the pocket, IMO.
Please bring back previous boxer brief liner
New Sherpa 2 in 1 boxer brief liner has an extra stich which causes the middle croth area of he liner to bunch up and cause friction/chaffing/discomfort ( as seen in grey shorts in photo below ). Previous version had a seamfree liner that was comfortable and breathable ( as seen in black shorts in picture below). Not sure how product development thought this was an improvement.
Love the shorts, hate the liner.
Love the shorts, but the liner needs some work. I can only get about 10-12 wears out of these before there is a giant hole in the liner. The material needs a lot of improvement. It’s happened to every pair l’ve had. Can the liner be made a little more durable? There is no issue with the outside of the shorts, just the inner liner.
Great while it lasted.
Good while it lasted, but material wears too quickly. Bought in Dec2019 and holes 8n both liner and shorts a year later. My other shorts have all lasted much longer than a year.
