Not Waterproof
No, I do not recommend this product
After much research, I selected the ON waterproof cloudrock for a trekking trip to Patagonia. My previous waterproof boot was Danner, but they needed replacing and the current model was not as comfortable as my old ones. The ON cloudrock was comfy out of the box. I wore them for the first time on a 45 minute walk in light to medium Seattle rain, city sidewalk, no puddles. Even with a waterproof pant, I felt the water entering the top of the shoe. I thought it might have just been runoff from the rainpant, but after the walk had squelching all through the shoe. Arrived home and took the video attached - you can see the result of a short walk in normal rain. Very disappointed in this brand.

Writing my first ever REI review because of how much I love these shoes. My partner was able to snatch two overnight tickets for us to summit Mt. Whitney (highest peak in the continental US), so I needed to buy shoes last-minute after destroying my years-long Merrells after hiking Big Pine Lakes. I decided to switch it up and give these a try. Bought them on Thursday night and planned to summit Mt. Whitney that Saturday. Zero time to break them in and let me just say, I walked through small amounts of water, mud, snow, and tons of large + small rocks and they were so great! No blisters. No feet pain. Super comfortable. Great grip. Very cute. True to size. Hiked over 20 miles in the course of two days with these, including summiting Mt. Whitney, and I’m so glad I purchased them. Price was a little high but my hiking shoes last me years! Worth it!

Jungle Tested In Colombia

My wife leads multiple Eco-Tourism Tours in South America every year. Her previous favorite brand of hiking shoes changes their sizing so they no longer work for her. I love my ON Cloudrocks, so I got her a pair of these for her Trip to Colombia in August; two weeks tramping through all sorts of conditions. They performed perfectly and she had none of the seepage issues described below. These shoes look clunky but are actually feather light; and they can take a real beating. Worth every penny in our opinion. ON has really disrupted its space for the better. Recommend these shoes without reservation.
