Change your ride change your life
After years and years of cycling on gravel and on roads, I’ve gotten older. I decide to change my adventure into longer distance places I’ve never been before. Shopping around for electric bicycles was quite confusing for sure. I landed upon this Cannondale Tesoro. I had it out for its maiden ride the day before yesterday on a warm day in Minneapolis suburbs. Riding 20 miles an hour into a wind gusting to 35 miles an hour was something brand new for me. Doing a one hour ride with a 10 mile out and 10 mile back with a very good workout was exactly what I was looking for. The quality, fit, and finish of this bicycle seem to be outstanding. This is not my first Cannondale bicycle and I’m excited to put more spring time Adventures on the wheels.
Not Recommeneded
REI's website indicates the Pedal Assist Range of 70 mi, but I do not believe this. On a full charge, I rode approximately 31 mi and had only 29% charge remaining. According to the Bosch eBike Flow app, on this ride I used it in Turbo Mode for 3 mi, Auto for 23 mi, Tour+ 2mi and Eco 3 mi. When fully charged, the app indicates the Range estimation at only 39 mi while in Eco Mode only. MSRP is $3,300.00, I purchased it for $2,639.99 on Dec 7, and it is now on sale for $2,149.93 (Jan 2); 26 days later. Interestingly, it is now listed as a discontinued model.
Do not Buy
I cannot recommend this bike at all. I purchased it for commuting to and from work, and ended up returning it 2 months later. - I was never able to get the bike up to 28 mph, even on perfectly level terrain. This was disappointing to me, as I would hope a class 3 bike could get up to 28 mph. It usually topped out at 24-25 mph. - The rear shifter has a defect in which if you are in the top gear and are in TURBO on the motor, the chain will jump off the crank if you do a sudden stop. Even when I got the chain adjusted, this still had a tendency to happen, so I had to be gentle on my stopping on pedalling. This was worse when cold. - The fender got misaligned on transport, and never was able to be re-aligned. It's annoying, but I would hope for a nicer fender when spending this much money. - Finally, after 2 months, the system kept shutting off by itself. Sometimes it had an error of "620012", sometimes it just shut off. Then the system couldn't detect the battery. I took it back to REI, who said this is a design defect, and offered to let me return it. I am honestly disappointed in this e-bike, and I did not purchase a Cannondale Bike for a replacement based off of my experience here.
