Very satisfied with this shell. It is very water repellant and does not wet out easily. The shell is very light and easily fits into the small bag they provide. On top of that, there is actually a lot of space for a helmet in this shell, unlike some other shells. However, you can easily adjust the shell to fit a non-helmeted head.
So I was looking for a hard shell that I could layer over jackets to keep me warm and dry on some of my mountaineering adventures in the Colorado mountains. I was looking for something versatile that could be used for spring alpine climbing/skiing. I cross referenced with the Mammut website which had this listed as a lightweight option in their mountaineering filters. I do love the color but sadly that's it. It's SUPER loud when wearing- I'm talking like wearing a mix of a 1980's windbreaker/trashbag combo noise. Also I did not catch that there are no pitzips. So not ideal if you are wanting to dump some heat while moving quickly especially in the CO mountains where temps can change super quick. The fit is kind of weird for me, which all people have different bodies so it could work for others. But it was not that slimmer athletic fit on me, it was a little too long and bulky everywhere which worries me for when I wear a harness. I would say I have an hourglass figure. I'm 5'4, wear a 34D bra, but a size 4-6 pant. I think maybe this item is a try on in the store to see if it fits your needs before ordering online.
Amazing gear for light days in the back country. Windproof and keeps me dry. Only complaint is no ventilation which I know would increase weight but would be worth it
it works well, lightweight, easy to carry and wear for backcountry skiing
