No pit zips!

After lessons learned last fall on the Camino de Santiago I was in search of a rain jacket that would be comfortable with a backpack and keep me dry in all day rain. I landed on this jacket and made my move when the annual sale hit. When it arrived I put it on and it was checking all my boxes: it was lightweight, the fit was great over my light puffer jacket but good on its own as well, the fabric felt great against my skin and seemed breathable, the zipper worked great, the front pockets are very roomy and out of the way of a pack belt strap, the inside pocket is ample and could easily accommodate a phone, the hood cinches up easily with one pull in the back and has a sturdy brim (important for me because I wear glasses), surprisingly I liked the lavender color more than I thought I would. I was in love and then….devastated to discover NO pit zips as advertised in the main description, features, and tech specs of the REI advertisement. I ended up exchanging this for the regular Taiss HS jacket and am awaiting its arrival. If you’re looking for a jacket to stand up to PNW rain while walking the dog, I’d say this would probably be a great one with the exception of the pocket placement. I didn’t take the time to try it out to see how it stands up to rain and body temperature. For me, the absence of pit zips is a deal breaker for a jacket intended for anything that can cause you to break a sweat.
