Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

A great shirt for travel and everyday wear!
This shirt is easy to love! It is a full-featured shirt that is ideal for travel or for just knocking around, and yet it looks great, especially in this color and pattern -- as soon as I tried it on, my wife said, "Oooh, I like that!" About those features: the fabric is light, airy, a bit stretchy, and very breathable; it works well on its own or worn over a light t-shirt. Definitely a great shirt for keeping the sun off your arms without heating up too much -- the rear vent, which is almost invisible, helps with ventilation. (See photo.) The two chest pockets will hold cards, cash, and other small items, but are a little small for sunglasses; fortunately, there is a glasses loop that works very nicely. (See photos.) There is also a very small zippered side pocket on the lower left which would work for carrying a key fob or a little cash or credit card; I don't find these little pockets useful, but it is pretty unobtrusive. My fave feature is that the sleeves have TWO buttons, and it is super-easy to roll up the sleeves - and they stay rolled up on their own, which is good since the little straps (which are designed to hold the rolled sleeves in place) are awkward to button. Overall quality of the shirt is what I've come to expect from REI branded clothes -- which is excellent. The fit exactly matches the sizing chart: I've included a full-body photo for reference. I'm 6'1", very slender, and the size Medium fits perfectly with a light t-shirt underneath - just as the chart predicts. All in all, this is a new "go-to" shirt for me. It's perfect for travel and for my everyday life, which is pretty active.
Nice for the price!
I’ve been really impressed with the REI Co-op Long Sleeve Pattern Shirt. The fit is fantastic—roomy and breathable, making it perfect for outdoor activities or casual wear. The wide cuff design is a standout feature, easily fitting over my GPS watch, and the sleeves have built-in holds for rolling them up on warmer days—a practical touch I really appreciate. The craftsmanship seems solid, and the shirt feels like it’s built to last. For reference, I’m 5’10” and 180 pounds, and the large fits me well, though it’s not a slim cut. If you’re looking for something more tailored, this might not be the one, but for comfort and functionality, it’s excellent. Highly recommended!
Buttons and Button Holes, Sizing Does Not Fit
This is a pretty good shirt, the stars are for the style and fit. I bought it in two colors for an Autumn trip to the Swiss Alps. That said, it could be a very good, maybe eve great shirt, if the buttons were actually sized to fit through the button holes. Or if the button holes were large enough for the buttons to go through. This is a particular problem if you are trying to roll up the sleeves and button them up. Cannot be done, the buttons just do not fit. Even having a traveling companion use their leverage could not get the buttons through. If I hadn't been wearing them for the past 2 weeks they would be returned.
Great shirt except for the side pocket zipper
In nearly every way, this is a great shirt. It breathes, wicks sweat away, can be washed however you like, and keeps the sun from cooking your skin. However, the little pocket on the left side, with a zipper, is exactly where a backpack hip belt will go, which means the zipper grinds into your skin. I don't know who thought this pocket would be helpful, but it's worse than having no pocket at all. After three days of backpacking, I'm ready to tear out the zipper. If you don't plan to ever backpack in this shirt, I'd give it five stars.
Great warm weather hiking shirt
This shirt is comfortable and fits true to size. The material is stretchy and relatively thin, and decently breathable. The sleeves roll up well but I did notice that the button location on the sleeve tends to catch a lot. It’s located right where, apparently, my arm brushes against things or can catch when putting on a pack. I suspect this button will get ripped off accidentally at some point. The chest pockets are smaller, and are mesh backed so I suspect these are more for venting than storage. The back has a vent that I found helped with flow on a backpack, especially one that are “floating” suspensions. This is definitely a nice shirt to wear on sunny but moderately warm days. It’s thin enough to not feel constricting or overly damp from sweat. Because it’s pretty thin, my hikes in 50F temperatures really made me want a slightly warmer shirt. Overall, mostly positive experience. The button on the sleeve could have benefitted from putting in a strap instead. And while the fit is good, it does feel a little long, so if you prefer to tuck during hikes it’ll be fine. If not, you might find it’s too much material at the bottom.
Front pockets could be improved
This is a good shirt for hiking or traveling. However, with a few modifications, it could be a GREAT shirt. The front pockets should be somewhat larger to accommodate a cell phone and/or passport. The Velcro loosens over time and items could fall out or invite pickpockets. Suggest replacement with buttons or better yet zippers. Save some manufacturing cost and get rid of the small zippered side pocket that has virtually no utility. Provide two button holes on the arm strap so the length of the rolled up sleeve can be adjusted. With these modifications, I would give the shirt 5 stars. Thanks.
Steer clear
Product fits great, looks good, but unfortunately it’s a low quality shirt. After wearing once, I followed the low iron instructions on the tag and it made a hole in the shirt. It was being ironed because it wrinkled bad from wearing it. Shocked to have the store tell me “Morally” they can’t take the return. That’s inappropriate. We love REI & frequently buy products, but this example isn’t standing behind their own private label or policy. Additionally it’s personally insulting.
Buttons barely fit holes
Beautiful shirt. One I wanted to love. But it takes so much effort to get the buttons to go through their holes that you are exhausted and frustrated by the time you are done.
Very comfortable, but pockets could be bigger
Due to the time of year, I have not been able to wear this out on the trail yet. I have worn it a couple times into the office and it is very comfortable and breathable. While I do appreciate that it has straps and buttons for the sleeves, they are really only functional above the elbow. As I typically only roll my sleeves just below my elbow, I’m not sure how useful I would find this, but I did try it and they do work well. I do like the side zippered pocket, but due to its size, it’s only good for maybe a couple of energy gels. I wouldn’t mind the breast pockets being a little bit larger as well. I sometimes like to put my cell phone in my shirt pocket, and larger phones may fit a little tight. I also prefer zippers to Velcro, but that’s a very minor issue. All in all, I do really like the shirt, there are just some minor changes I would make.
Close to great, but details matter
I already wrote a review, but after 12 days using it backpacking, I thought I'd add an update. The little pocket on the left side is worse than useless. I finally cut out the zipper pull to keep it from grinding into my skin under my backpack's hip belt, but still felt the need to pull the shirt tail up to keep the remnants of the zipper out of the way. I also had to cut the button holes to make them bigger for when the sleeves are rolled up and you want to use the sleeve straps to keep them that way. Another reviewer mentioned the same issue. For the price, these aspects make the shirt only worthy of three stars. Excellent wicking, easy washing, and quick drying are all strong points. But that's the fabric and not the design/construction.
