Part of my issue could well be a sizing problem, but I found this coat to be a poor fit for my body type. Settled for an XS because there were no XXS. This shell is way too bulky for my frame. Save for the excellent hood design, the pockets are not designed to carry anything heavier than gloves it seems, and this exacerbates the other issue that there is a permanent fold that forms in the front below the pockets that pools water and then dumps it on to the knees and into boots as I am walking/hiking. In my opinion, the slight tapering on the Codetta jacket prevented this issue - fully appreciating that its a differnt product. The other thing that is disappointing is that the grey interior lining material (that is quadratic) on sleeves and bottom, absorb water and takes over 30 minutes to dry. The exterior doesn't bead water off - maybe my misinterpretation of the material. Perhaps this is part of the redesign, but at the price point, its not a value proposition if you're out on the mountain with el doggo everyday. Challenging to reseal and wash every 7 heavy uses. Because the shell is so absorbent, it makes it hard to clean mud off it if you take a spill like I did when my dog came barreling down a hill. Sorry that this review is so grumpy; I came home soaked and cold today and its been an hour and the jacket is still wet in some sections.
I purchased this coat in 2022. I like the shape and design, but the grid-like material on the inside of the wrists, about an inch from the cuffs, gets soaked in moderate rain! This is really uncomfortable! I believe the same material is used at the hem, about an inch in length as well. In moderate rain, my wrists are always wet (the material absorbs and holds the water). Was this tested? For such an expensive coat from a well-known brand, it should be recalled and repaired.
Incredibly waterproof, good fit for layering with sweaters or light puffy's underneath. Unziping from the bottom allows more leg room for steeper climbs. Double zip front pockets take a bit to get used to but neat feature. Collar shields against the wind without having to put the hood up.
Use this for walking in and around the Lake District. I love the longer length, keeps the top of my legs really dry. Fits well, feel dry at the end of a wet walk. Very pleased with my coat
Le manteau est resistant a moi qui tombe ou qu’on m’a lance du fond de teint chez Sephora! Mon meilleur achat !
I wanted to love this jacket but it just didn't suit me. The jacket is a great length, long enough to provide coverage and still be versatile. Its really lightweight and packs down quite well. I didn't really notice any noise from shell when moving. Overall fit is quite roomy for layering (Size Small). The only reason not a full 5 star is that it makes me feel flat and wouldn't say its overally fitting for me/my body type (lean, straight with not much hip and smaller bust). Overall not a flattering coat but excellent quality
The Beta coat is super nice! I'm 5'1" and it is about an inch below my knees. I do wish it was 2 inches longer though. It's light, and has a good amount of pockets. I am about 114 pounds and the coat is the right amount of oversized on me, I purchased a size Small. It will be great alone or with layers underneath. I wanted the long Liatris coat but the XXS was just way too big on me, I wish there was an XXXS in it. Anyway the Beta coat is very nice and I can't wait to where it in the rain!
This Drop Hood doesn’t have the usual conches at the neck/front, which leaves it gaping at the sides in wind and doesn’t allow it to move with you when you move your head. It does have the single toggle compression at the back that allows you to get the visor in the right place so you can see if looking straight ahead. Other jackets with this same Drop Hood have more compression for good hood function. I am surprised that this beta coat does not.
Love the length and the overall fit of this coat. I was looking for something a bit longer for the days when I'm in the city vs. hiking. This coat works perfectly for errands, etc. Gives me nice coverage and I love how roomy the pockets are (they can seriously hold everything). The fit is a bit larger which makes layering easy without looking as if I've been stuffed into the coat.
I was so excited to see this jacket and read about the revised fit (and adjustable back). I am a huge Arc’teryx fan, I have at least 25 jackets from the past 15-20 years…I could be sponsored by the company and have raved about dozens of different products over the years, yet as a super athletic 95 lbs woman I find the new fits challenging. I was really pleased it came in an XXS, I was excited about the color…but the fit is still SO off…at least for a smaller person, and I can’t really see who this jacket is going to work for. I was drowning the the jacket, and because it was so big it was like wearing a large garbage sack around the house. Maybe over time the material would not be a crunchy or stiff…but it was a fail. I didn’t have to think twice about sending it back. I was bummed. If this trench was styled different it could be a perfect addition to the collection, but it needs some serious reworking.
