laminate came apart after only 3 years

My first Beta was stolen after two months. My second Beta is more than 12 years old and when I replaced it, it was still everything I could have hoped for, but I had put on weight and couldn't breath anymore when the zipper was closed. My third Beta AR was dearly loved (amazing colour) and very carefully looked after - but the laminate came apart after only three years with comparatively little use (due to good summers and little outdoor work in the winters) - I am a walking guide and feel like I barely used it! From now on I feel I cannot really recommend this jacket anymore - and I used to recommend it to my guests all the time! For the price that these jackets cost (most expensive item of clothing I have ever owned!) I expect them to last longer! Having said that - it fit well, even with loads of layers underneath, and - until the laminate gave in - it was totally waterproof - and it was beautiful. Shame that it didn't last. I will watch the next Beta AR carefully. If it doesn't hold its promises AGAIN then I will have to find a new brand.

Hi there, thank you so much for sharing your review of the Beta Jacket. It’s great to hear how well your previous jackets performed over the years and that the fit and weather protection have consistently worked for you. We’re truly sorry to hear about the lamination issue with your most recent jacket, especially given the care you’ve taken and your professional use as a walking guide. We understand how disappointing that must be, particularly when you’ve come to rely on this product and have recommended it to others. Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and we’ve shared it with our product team as we continue to improve future products. We really value your trust and hope your next experience with the Beta AR Jacket lives up to the standard you’ve come to expect. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us.

Lossens waterproofing after a few years.

I own my beta lt since 2021. i love the comfort and breathability. It futs quite narrow so as a 1,80m/65kg women i took a size s but would have appreciated more size m for putting a woolen pullover under it. Unfortunately it lost its waterproofing a year ago. Now i still use it for biking daily but my shoulders and arms get wet always. I never wear a backpack with it, so that can’t be the problem.

Hello Flora, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with your Beta LT. We're glad to hear it’s been a comfortable and breathable companion since 2021. We're sorry to hear that the waterproofing has diminished over the past year — that’s understandably disappointing, especially since you’re still using it daily for biking. A wash followed by a tumble‑dry can often help reactivate the DWR finish and improve water beading on the surface. If you’ve already tried that, or if the issue persists afterward, we recommend reaching out to our team through a Product Service Request form so they can take a closer look and assess the jacket in more detail. https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service/service-request

all around allstar

Beta is a great all-around waterproof shell. The fit let's you move easily, even over other layers, the face fabric is light but fully rainproof and durable, and it has only the features you need. If you are looking for a single hardshell to use year round for skiing, hiking, travel, whatever... this is a great choice.

Great shell!!

Absolutely love it!! I recently upgraded my shell since my older one started to show some wear and tear after a few years. The inside pocket is a plus and I can’t be happier with the pastel pink. Fits perfectly and does what it claims to do which is waterproof and wind proof. It’s lightweight and easy to pack.
