I really love these shoes, they have pretty much replaced every other in-town, running or light hiking shoe. The lugs on the bottom of the shoes are great for trail running in loose, muddy, or snowy terrain; anything that needs a little extra dig to them. I've had other snow running shoes before, with really tall lugs, and wearing them felt like I was on a hundred tiny rubber stilts. The ground contact was very malleable and mushy on solid surfaces. These shoes are NOT like that! They are great, with just enough lug. They are way more comfortable than I expected, sacrificing no cushion because of their lightness. There is a lot of cushion, giving nicely on heel strikes when running on hard roads. I've never had issues with breathability of shoes, and these seem great too. Although I've wanted waterproof shoes for a while, like the Konseal, (again, I think my feet don't sweat), these have stood up to downpour in Hawai'i, and light walking through the snow, very well. If you are planning on very wet hiking, these will do the job! The colors are fantastic too, I've gotten a lot of compliments. I normally wear a size 38 or 6.5, but I wear the 6 or 37.333 in these.
The sizing is bizarre. I have another pair of arcteryx shoes that fit fine and true to size but these are so deep. The sides of the shoe cut into my ankle and cut the back of my heel (pictured). This caused bleeding through my sock onto the shoe (only walking 2km) the first time I wore them out of the house. Of course trying them on in the house they felt fine. I’m really disappointed. If they fit they’d be a lovely shoe, they look and feel great. But I’ve never been injured by a shoe like this before. So I urge caution with the sizing!
I bought these shoes for endurance riding and running down hill when dismounted. They are very grippy, very comfortable and HOT. They are the only tennies I own where my feet sweat, regardless of the socks I'm wearing. They provide enough support and cusion though that I can overlook sweaty feet this winter. I likely won't be able to use them in the summer though. I hope the next version is more breathable and still offered in black. That would be the perfect shoe. For reference; I'm between an 8.5 and 9 depending on the manufacturer. I bought both sizes to try and kept the 8.5. I agree with other reviews that these run long.
I've been wearing these shoes for a few months now, and I'm so impressed by how they handle long distances. I recently completed a single day Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim double crossing of the Grand Canyon (83km), and they provided the perfect amount of cushion, even with the rocky and technical terrain. I also ran a 50 mile race in them this weekend, which was very runnable and hilly (and therefore high impact). I was so impressed with how well they handled, even with a few creek crossings. I found previous versions of the Norvan LD's to be a little stiff through the sole, but the 3's have found a great balance of support while still being responsive. I also love the extra toe-box room, but I did size down half a size from my normal runner shoe size (I tend to do this in all arc'teryx shoes).
These shoes are amazing! I wore them all summer for trail runs, mountain adventures, and even a few overnight backpacking trips. I honestly loved them as a light hiker. They are light, foot-fitting, and took no time to break in. I would LOVE if Arc brought back the electric blue colour - I received so many compliments on these, and the colour made me happy :) I am eager to try them out in colder conditions this winter. Pictured: wearing them for a trail race!
This is my 3rd pair of Norvans, I've had 1 pair of LD 2's and 2 pairs of LD3s. They last me about 6 months before tearing in the exact same spot every time. The latest pair has lasted me the least amount of time (<3 months) so I don't know if Arcteryx is going for cheaper constriction now or what. I wish they lasted longer because they fit me perfectly!
I've been trying to find a shoe with enough cushioning but not too much that I don't feel the trail to run short distances while my hip labrum heals from tears. Super comfortable and so light. My go to shoe to bring on trips. And my favourite color! One size smaller than my usual shoe size
I bought a pink jacket, and tried to match the color, and got the shoe in pink ; I am so happy I did; wow many complements
Last Spring, I purchased my first pair of the Norman LD 3. They fit my foot perfectly and I like them so much, I ordered another pair. I have a narrow arch and heel but I like a little wider toe box. This shoe keeps my foot snug but gives my forefoot plenty of room. And, just the right amount of cushion but not too high off the ground. I'm not a high mileage runner and these shoes have held up great. And, for me, they seem to run a little generous. I wear insoles and typically wear a 7.5. I sized down to 7 in these and they're perfect.
For a long time I didn't like these shoes because of the laces but I finally found out that the tongue has an insert where you can hide the laces and I haven't had a problem since! These shoes are great for trail runs and hikes. I love how much cushion they have and it really rolls over the rocks, full 4x4 experience. The only thing to note, they come bigger than you'd expect so buy a half size down :) or if you like your shoes big like me keep to the same size !
