Not the Tarmac it used to be.
I have been an Eagle Creek User for 20+ years. I bought this as a replacement for my old Tarmac. Disappointing. It lacks most of the features of the older version including external pockets, bag hanger, internal dividers. The side handles are flimsy and there is not bottom handle anymore. The new version just seems to be a container for the EC Pack-it system and not the versatile carry on it used to be. I ended up returning it because of this.
Almost perfect if it can expands
A bit long for middle section overhead bin. Would be great if it can expands a bit. Good built quality.
Probably not worth the money
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this bag on the recommendation of a friend who owns an earlier version and really loves it. But this version lacks those things that made the first one efficient: this one has only one exterior compartment, hardly big enough to hold more than a passport, and it lacks any expandability. I've flown with it twice now and part of the exterior binding has already begun to fray. Given the price, I expected a lot more and I can't think why I would want to buy another Eagle Creek product.
Great design and quality construction
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the sixth Eagle Creek bag I’ve purchased, and I’ve found every one to be well designed and well constructed. I’ve used several other highly rated brands of luggage, but I prefer Eagle Creek. Having four wheels on my large, check-through bag makes it easier to move through airports. However, I like the two-wheeled carry-on Tarmac. The wheels are extremely sturdy and glide smoothly over rough pavement, and the bag is lighter and more capacious than the four-wheeled version.
My error I thought this
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My error I thought this bag expanded like the soft sided large duffel I own, but this one is more hard sided and doesn't expand like my duffel. I would have returned it but we were leaving on our trip and didn't have the time to send it back and order one different. I'm very pleased with the quality of your products. Just wished I reviewed the item more closely before purchasing it.
Eagle Creek Tarmac XE
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have only had my new Eagle Creek Tarmac XE luggage for a short time but I am, so far, impressed with the style and quality of the product. My only wish is that it was slightly larger and was expandable. The next larger size might be a better choice for those traveling for more than a couple days. I have not used the computer pocket as I carry my laptop personally with me.
Loyal Eagle Creek Customer since 2006
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have purchased several Eagle Creek luggage over the years. Purchased two Tarmac 24" suitcases in 2006 which finally broke. Replaced them with the latest 22" inch carry on models. Previous purchases include the 28" Tarmac and the 26" Eagle Creek Wheeled Duffel. Newer luggage outer case doesn't use the stiffer material as the older model, but does weigh less as a carry on.
Too small for a weekend trip
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t doubt the quality of this piece as I have purchased other Eagle Creek pieces and love them. I was a little disappointed in the size. The carry on that I purchased years ago is no longer offered and I thought this model would be the same size as it was the only comparable one. It is noticeably smaller that the one I have.
Ok
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s ok. Frame is lopsided so when it sits upright it rocks back and forth. Zippers are just ok and not as sturdy as another eagle creek bag bought in 2014. Took on a week trip to Europe and the wheels were great. Need to find a smaller pack-it bag so that other items will fit in bag.
Great a bag, I have
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great a bag, I have one and gave this to a friend who is a Federal Air Marshal because it’s the best bag. I knew it would be tough and durable for her since she’ll literally be living out of it! I Love Eagle Creek Bags! Get it, you’ll be happy you did.
