Could be better
Sturdily constructed EXCEPT for the flimsy tie downs and handle bar liner. Dimensions are misleading - overall length is measured to the wheel base. But the pack itself is almost an inch shorter. NO way can you cram 60 liters in the expanded mode. If an airline is stringent on carryone requirments this bag might not cut it. The stowaway backpack straps bulge out when zipped
Good bag with a couple of tweaks
I really liked this bag and wanted to keep it. There are a couple of design flaws, which meant I returned. The main one is that there is an opening where the handle slides into the bag, meaning that your clothes, etc, are exposed. This was the main reason I returned the bag. I also thought the straps were too bulky and it would be better if they were detachable. This would free up some packing space and give you the option if you felt you needed the straps. Otherwise, I liked the bag. I thought it was well-constructed with durable materials and match what I was looking for. I just didn’t want my clothes exposed because of the handle.
Don’t waste your money
Cheap design and nothing like the sturdy older versions. I have an older eagle creek carry in bag with backpack that is starting to show its age. I decided to get this as a replacement and am not impressed at all. The luggage is soft textile that will not protect your belongings. Additionally, the backpack attaches with straps. My older model backpack zips to the luggage and is made of sturdier material. They need to go back to the old bags because these are garbage.
Very good but not perfect
I ordered this bag about one year ago and have used it several times for international travel. In general, it is not my primary luggage but it comes in very handy and is quite versatile. The bag has lots of storage space and plenty of compartments with nice features. My only grievances with this bag are that the zippers can be finicky sometimes (difficult to open/close) and the detachable, smaller backpack is cumbersome to attach to the main bag. As a backpack, the bag is not particularly comfortable but it serves its purpose. Nevertheless, the bag's versatility and ample storage convince me to use it for most trips. I highly recommend this bag.
A good easy to travel bag
It travelled well however the back pack is difficult to get into. I think the top should open wider so it eleimates the digging for stuff. I did not like the packing around the metal bar inside. I had an older version and loved it although it was stolen from my rental car in Key West Florida. So I replaced with this upgrade. The older was easier to access but required locking the zippers together to keep it safe. This one hooks under the tab so would be difficult for a thief. So its a trade off. Overall a great bag and if it lives as long as the other I will be delighted as I had the other 20 years and it travelled many miles.
Warning and my review of the NEW Wheeled Backpack.
WARNING: The many of these reviews are very old...8-9 years. They review an entirely different wheeled pack. One that has a single pole for pulling, One that came with an additional day pack, or an organization pocket. The old reviews are misleading. I purchased this pack a year ago. To be blunt, I haven't yet taken it on a trip. Why? Unpacked it's already heavy about 8 pounds. So if you fly out of the US you are likely to be weight limited for a carry on unless you're flying BA. If not carrying it on, I worry that the outside compression straps could be torn off. The back pack straps compartment protrude about 2 inches from the body again possibly failing bag dimensions for width. It, plus a 17L personal item, didn't hold what I needed for a 20 day trip to Scotland. Also please note it will NOT hold a water bottle in its pocket if already fully packed. Why haven't I returned it? I got it on a great sale price. I love its looks and other than the outer compression straps, it seems very sturdy. Better pull handle, fabric and space than the Osprey pull pack I also looked at. Better wheels than ANY other convertible pack I've looked at. Don't go with a 4 wheel model. I'll likely use this to fly to some place tropical where my clothing will be lighter/smaller. OR, when I get better at reducing my haul even more.
gotten better but needs more work
eagle creek is going to hate me. I bought one from the company over 20 years ago. still have it. its been redesigned sense then. but I love it. when I watched the video I was in love. until the end. the day bag. the one that I have has a pocket on the outside that you can open up and there is small pockets inside for the little things. like a pen, keys, note pad. there is also a little pocket with a zipper. that is missing in this one. over all it looks good but its not great. ill keep my old one.
Great travel carry-on, daypack/backpack
I was specifically looking for a wheeled backpack that could converted from carry-on luggage to backpack quickly. This bag does that. It's quality design and materials make it a good buy although pricey. The only drawback noted after purchase is that the zippers tend to be a bit finicky and stick a bit. This is true for both the carry-on backpack and the daypack. I'm still satisfied, but that's an area to improve in later versions.
African photo safari
the perfect carry on, camera equipment inside and a change of cloths for really long flights outside, don't have to open the main compartment. It does need a different shaft for the handle, needs a double shaft handle to slide a duffle on top. Otherwise it was great all the way to Sabi Sands. rolls great, soft handles, great capacity and durable, just change the handle shaft so my duffle doesn't spin around on top. Love it
High expectations
I purchased this carry-on for a trip to Italy this fall, I have not yet used the main bag but did recently use the smaller daypack for a 9.5 mile hike and was pleased with how comfortable it fit. I have a slender build and often find backpack straps uncomfortably wide over the shoulder, these straps were neither too wide or too narrow (which can feel like it cuts in to the shoulder with a heavier load). I was able to fit enough water for myself and 2 dogs as well as lunch, small first aid kit, bear spray, extra shirt and a few additional personal items without difficulty. I barely noticed the pack apart from it trapping body heat/sweat, which is not unexpected with hiking in Sunny 70 degree weather. Overall appears to be well made and of quality material. I have high expectations this bag will perform well for several years. I rated 4 stars since I haven't used the main bag yet.
