The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star instead of 5 is because the product runs small. I've read the previous reviews and also went through the size chart and decided to order myself a size 12. I'm a size 8 and have other Columbia products size 8. I'm glad I ordered a size 12. It's a little bit roomy on my waist, but I like it that way. It's the right size for me. I'm 5'8", about 155 lb.
I've worn this pant for years and with age, needed a slightly larger size. I'm normally a 12-14 in most brands, but know Columbia's Silver Ridge has minimal give to the material, so went up to a 16, which barely fit and thus, will be returned. I think Columbia has perhaps rested on their laurels as one of the OG outdoor clothing designers and has not kept pace with advances in materials and design in this industry. It's a shame, but there are so many other comparable manufacturers that are making better products in the same price point that it's hard to consider Columbia anymore when replacing old hiking gear.
Hey there! We are really sorry the sizing didn't hit the mark for you. We would love to assist with finding something that works better. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team if you need further assistance, or exact measurements!
I have to update my previous review. I bought a size 12 previously (usually I'm a size 8) and when I wore it for the first time they seem to fit perfectly (I have pictures on my previous review: dark blue pants). The fabric actually loosens up a bit and the size 12 got a bit loose. I ordered another one on size 10. This time, the first time I wore it, it seemed a bit tight, but after wearing it for some hours, the fit was right. I really like the pants and I will still wear both sizes. The 12 I will need a belt and the 10 I won't need one.
I bought a pair of these and I ordered size 34 and the flesh said 34 but they were size 38 like I was swimming in them. The material isn’t great like the former pants I had bought in the past as they were not stretchy and can be damaged super easy if snagged plus the stitching is awful.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a pair of khaki ones that I’ve been wearing practically daily for years ..and seeing the inevitable wear and tear , I finally decided to check out your website . I was able to get the pair in this cool greasy shade..and after wearing a dew days chose to buy 2 more pairs in black and khaki. I think I’m set for my hikes, dog walks and life for awhile. So we’ll made ..UV protected and rain proof. Love them especially the comfort and pockets so convenient for all the gear I carry.thankyou
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The low waist was too tight for me while the hips were too big. I tried these on three different times because I really liked the features and wanted them to fit, but in the end realized they were not for my body shape. They have multiple and well placed pockets, perfect length, nice fabric and quality of construction, although the closure button could have a bit more substantial and I understand other comments about the tight thighs. They would have been my go-to pants.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good quality. Very quick drying after getting wet, however, not stretchy at all so don't expect that. Recommend sizing up if you're second guessing sizing (just because there's no stretch). They are tight in the thigh on me, but I have larger than average quads. I also wish there were more pockets - why do men get so many more pockets than women? I will be keeping and wearing because they are good pants, just want a little stretch and more pockets.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking forward to a new pair of Columbia hiking pants, but these run narrow and small, and the waist band does not stretch. Usually I fit size 6-8, but was unable to zip this pants up (I ordered a size 6 ). I am 5-4" tall and weigh 122 lbs. For comparison I tried my old Columbia pants and they still fit comfortably. I would recommend ordering one or two sizes larger. The material is nice and light - too bad the design isnʻt more forgiving.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice quality pants. Compared to other "zip-off" hiking pants brands I own, the shorts on these pants are slightly longer, ending just above my knees. Like some other reviewers mentioned, the pants run small. I recommend getting a size up and I am glad I did that otherwise the pants would have been too tight. The pants legs are straight and fitted, so not as loose as some other hiking pants I own. Overall happy with the purchase.
I guess I will keep them but they are not super comfortable. I need them for a trip to Borneo where it will be hot and humid and I need like trail pants. Mine arrived with a label "Boot Cut" - which I did not see in any description pre-purchase - Basically it means for me that the waist is good, things are good, the length and general size is good but the knees are tight! It's a bummer - straight would have been better.
