Bought these in November 2023 for a trip to Madeira, Portugal. When going on a hiking/trekking trip I love a multifunctional shoe that can handle the trail but also look great for day to day wear. The Agility Peak 5s fit this perfectly as and covered a lot of Kms over a week and a half of gnarly hikes. The shoes didn’t take long to break in and kept my feet feeling fresh and blister free, even with lots of up/downhill trail segments. The outsoles and top mesh held up well to the rocks and thorns on most trails, however the midsole took a bit of a beating with the softer material. An easy choice to wear again, and I’m hoping to get a few more big trips out of them.
Very comfortable shoe but the durability was disappointing. After just 6 weeks and about 100 miles they’re already pretty worn down.
One year review on Agility Peak 5!! I purchased these shoes as an alternative for a golf shoe. I initially thought with the Gortex protection they would work great which they did. I can’t imagine how these would hold up on the trail if they can’t survive a walk on the course. My bad for not doing this one week ago. Merrell will not provide any quality support or product loyalty. Both shoes came completely separate at the ball of the foot. Poor manufacturing not to last a year only using a couple times a week. This shoe would fail in 4 months if worn daily. Between my wife and I we have purchased over 10 pairs of shoes over last several year only to watch the quality and comfort decline. Review the photos for yourself. My last pair of Merrells!
I took these shoes to our 2week trip to the Swiss Alps. They did incredible in the different terrains we encountered. On rocky, muddy, grassy, or city grounds these shoes felt amazing. I put 18k-30k steps a day on these shoes and my feet were happy I had these Merrell. I have a 3day weekend hike in the Smokey mountains in a few weeks and I know what shoes I’ll be taking. ⛰️ I had an issue with both of the front flap seams. Little fibers stuck out and irritated the front of my foot. After a scissor trim they felt fine.
We appreciate your review!
I own the non-waterproof and gore Tex version. The gore Tex version seems to be 5 stars so far but the non-waterproof appear to have quality control problems. As you can see in the photos the tops of shoes are covered in loose threads that make them look terrible and cheap. The bottom soles appear to be glued on incorrectly and are wearing terribly. Merrell needs to start doing better quality control before a great customer moves to another brand.

Really disappointed in the quality of these trainers, especially with the price, I expected them to last way longer. After one month of use, including a few hikes, the lace loops have started to tear, and the rubber toe is starting to peel away from the shoe, and the beige rubber on the side is flaking away. There's also very fine stitching on the top of the trainer that has opened up. Its a shame because they're really comfy and look great.

Disappointed in this shoe. I’ve only walked on concrete and the side of the soles are losing their color. I thought they were trail tanning shoes?

This shoe is perfect for walking, exercising, any outdoor activity. Water does not penetrate for walking on wet surfaces. The reason for 4 stars is no wide widths with this style. It’s a shame because it pinches my little toe. I have to have wide widths. I thought by ordering this shoe in a men’s size, it would offer enough space. It is simply too tight for my foot. I would ask that you reconsider offering wide widths in this style. I would absolutely reorder it in my colors. I was happy about the shoe, not the choice of widths.
Fantastic shoe right out of the box. Much like a pair of Hoka Speedgoat 3's I ran in 5 years ago these have been a delight. Having run about 400k in them to this point they're still my go to for comfort and confidence in rugged terrain for long days. The upper has held up well while bombing through mountain scree and talus and the Vibram mega grip is a no brainer. Fantastic traction, and so far great durability in the sole. My only knock on the Agility Peak 5 would be midsole, more specifically the outside edges of it. The shoes still have wonderful cushioning at 400k, but the scree and rocks are doing a number on the exterior edges of the foam. Lastly, I haven't experienced the heal slippage as other reviewers, even though I size my shoes with a full thumbs width in front of my big toe, but I always finish my laces off with a runners loop and utilize the extra lace hole at the top.
My first encounter with the agility peak 5 was in the form of the peak zero GTX Gore-Tex version. I loved the sole and comfort of the shoe so much I bought three pairs of the agility peak 5. This shoe brings a ton of confidence to technical trail running. The cushion of the soul, the traction of the lugs, and the protection of the rock plate is the perfect combination.
