Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Comfortable shirt
Shirt is very comfortable and does not retain odors, unlike some other cheaply made synthetic clothing I have bought in the past that feels rough and smells. Great for hiking/running/exercising or everyday use. Fit is a touch large, consider sizing down.
Sun protection and comfort
The shirt is soft and flexible. Almost has the feeling of a cotton shirt without the drawbacks of a cotton shirt. The color I got was Blue Nights Heather. While not my standard color that I would choose, it's a great color all around. I saw a few other reviews online saying that it had an greasy feel to it. Mine didn't feel that way. It was smoother than other fabrics, but not greasy at all. I love the fact it's made from recyclable materials. Helps reduce our waste. It fit right out of the package. Felt breathable, although I haven't had it on any hikes where I was too hot. One thing I do like is the SPF factor in it. Fabric provides UPF 30 sun protection and where I live, that's a big deal. That's better than a cotton shirt.
Everyday shirt - good for hiking and running
Everyday essential: This outdoor shirt blends comfort with functionality. It has a relaxed fit and avoids the ultra-thinness of performance tops. It's soft like cotton, which makes it nice to wear and offers the expected moisture-wicking you would want for an outdoor shirt. Versatile enough that I would consider adding another color to my closet. While it's still early to judge its summer suitability since it's March, it's currently ideal for active cooler days when you don't want long sleeves.
Neutral and Neat
I recently took the REI Sahara Shirt on a winter hike both in the foothills and in the lowlands. It was comfy and dried quickly. The sizes are spot on, and color is neutral which is nice as a gym shirt and a day hiker shirt. Still unsure on a longer backpacking trip, I'd say two of these would work well swapping one every day or so. There was little odor after a day hike and because it dried so quick in the sun and wind I was able to wear it for the car ride home, right into a barbeque. The colors fit well enough with my casual pants I didn't have to change and am looking forward to using this more in Spring 2024
Excellent Base Layer Shirt
Very solid lightweight baselayer. Wicks moisture incredibly well. Fits nicely, to size. May fit a bit long on folks below 6'. Good construction. This one is a favorite in my base collection. Color is fairly neutral.
Clean, casual tech tee
I find myself constantly looking at various tech tees from various companies as they are one of the staple items for living an active lifestyle. Even better when the tech tee works seamlessly as casual wear, better because you can truly start minimizing the number of garments you own. This Sahara Tee is among the best I have tried. The fabric has a very soft hand, lightly brushed and mimics the appearance of cotton. In terms of performance, it wicks sweat efficiently and does a great job minimizing odors for a synthetic. It has a similar look and feel to the Patagonia Capeline Cool Daily. The Sahara does a better job managing odor than the Patagonia, and it has a slightly more casual look with the heathering patterns. Overall this is a very good product and quite competitive with big apparel brands
Not as good as the original.
Not as good as the original. I like that the new versions are made of recycled material but it’s not as soft, not as stretchy and it has a greasy feel to it. Also, the old versions had a REI Co Op tag at the hem which is missing from the new version. I know this is a small detail but it shows a degrade in quality and details.
Same Name, Different Shirt
The previous versions of the Sahara shirt were far superior to this. They were thicker, wicked liquid perfectly, and had a better cut. This new version is barely acceptable, but has a different fit and is made of different material. It's a different, lower quality shirt, and it definitely shouldn't cost $35. I won't be buying again, and it's shady that they kept the same name with an entirely different product.
These shirts (were) My Favorite- Not Sure Anymore
Newer version of this shirt is slightly disappointing as it feels thiner and not as soft as the other 6+ short and long sleeve versions of this shirt I own which were purchased over the past several years . This was my favorite shirt, we’ll see if the new version of the shirt which I just received holds up to the test given it’s thinner and less soft feel.
Great multi-purpose shirt
I tried this shirt recently and love them. I didn't buy them for hiking, but rather riding my bike in summertime FL. They are extremely light and the fit is perfect. The extra length is great so they don't ride up on the back while riding. They also breath exceptionally well. In the summer I ride in the early morning starting before sun up when it is still in the mid-70's to low-80's, and very humid. The performance of this shirt thrilled me. It was kind of like riding my bike while wearing my own personal swamp cooler. lol I wish there were more colors as I wear T-shirts all the time 9 months of the year and would prefer wearing these for general use over any cotton T-shirt.
