I love recovery as much as getting to the point where I would require recovery, so I was very excited to be able to review the ALES GREY Malibu Recovery Slide. Since they're a recovery sandal, they don't really inspire design-wise but they are very lightweight. I wore these all day for work at my standing desk and took them for a spin on the rower a few times. The slides are nice and wide, which I loved, but I felt they could have been a bit roomier in the instep area and offered a little more arch support. The material is a bit stiff and I personally would prefer something more forgiving. I do like that they are a lower profile so not as bulky for traveling. These sandals will definitely be in my recovery slide rotation after the gym, snowboarding, and hiking. I also visited the company website and I was happy to discover that these sandals are made from recycled materials and manufactured with sustainability in mind.

Comfort but wouldn’t stay on

While these slides are comfortable, I had a terrible time keeping them on my feet. I wear a size W10.5 and sized up to W11. Unfortunately, the shape of the heel seems to push the shoe forward when you step, causing me to fall out of them. This happened with and without socks on. I wanted to like them more, but I am a bit disappointed. Maybe having a high arch had an effect as well since the top strap was tight on the top of my foot.

Firm Sandals

I used these sandals around the house to provide cushion on hardwood floors. These sandals were very firm. They provided a lot of support, but no cushion. The opening was also too small and limited my ability get my toes to the front. The texture was comfortable on my feet and didn’t make my feet sweaty.

Great sandals for the house and the climbing gym

This sandal has become my go-to for a quick easy shoe. They are so light and supportive, I barely notice that I've been wearing them all day around the house. The construction of the slide makes it feel very secure and stable without adding any extra pressure or pinching on the top of my foot. I have bunions and the wide toe box is the perfect size. They feel great with or without socks, and my feet don't slide around at all. I use these for the climbing gym and they felt great after a long hike in the mountains. I will definitely have these in the car for all climbing, hiking and ski adventures from now on! The only downside is they aren't the most aesthetic shoe; so they will be difficult to dress up if you want to wear them for a night out on the town. It is surprising how light weight they feel given the rather bulky design.

Recycled, lightweight, comfortable and supportive

Wow. Simply, wow. I just received this pair of recovery slides not really knowing what recovery sandals do. Putting them on my feet instantly relieved the tension in my feet that I was not aware of, at all. The comfortable snug fit places the arch support right up against my feet where they need to be, and the lightweight material takes so much weight off my legs. The company also has created this slide from biobased materials and recycled material which is definitely a huge plus for me. The packaging is low frills so waste has been decreased dramatically! The thought behind what the company has done with this product is top notch and I will definitely consider purchasing shoes and sandals from this company in the future.

Firm and Supportive Slides

These slides are a bit different from your standard recovery slide sandals. They aren't soft or gushy feeling, or cloud-like, but somehow they work and provide a nice stability and break for the feet post-hike, paddleboard, or workout. I've used them for about 10 days now, largely in fitness recovery settings (e.g., after Olympic weightlifting which is especially tough on feet, or a long paddleboarding session) and I'm generally a fan. In terms of fit, I'm probably between a 10.5 - 11 (W) and the length is fine on these (11) but the footbed is a bit snug, especially with socks. I'm not sure they would fit well with thicker winter or hiking socks. In terms of appearance, they're really slick looking. I can see myself wearing these around town for casual errands and brewery trips!

Like the materials! Not the most comfy.

These shoes had good grip and I like that they’re made with organic materials. The upper was pretty wide, and the toes felt loose while the top of my arch was where the shoe got tightest and it was necessary to keep them from slipping off my feet, but seemed to rub with each step. Also not much arch support.

Comfortable post-hike sandals

These are comfortable shoes for running errands or after a long hike. I have warn them with and without socks, and recommend wearing socks. It increases how comfortable they are, and also reduces some rubbing on the toes that would happen from time to time. True to size.

Comfy recovery slippers

Great recovery slide - so far, have worn after ballet classes and am looking forward to wearing these more after hikes & snowboarding in the wintertime. It took me a minute to get used to the rocker profile, but it relieves the tension so well! I typically wear a 7.5 women's narrow and have bunions - the size 8 women's fit well, so definitely size up if you are half sizes.

Comfortable and versatile

Super comfortable slide that I like using for walking around the house and around the pool. Really light and waterproof, making it super versatile. Great house slipper for tile floors in tropical places! Would be five stars, but slipping them on takes a bit of work. I need to wiggle my foot in a little.
