I seek new, not used or returned.
When I seek to buy new Birkenstock sandals from REI I expect new Birkenstocks, not used or returned Birkenstocks.
Great support and comfort
I have been a big fan of Birkies for decades. These Milanos replace an older pair almost worn out even after several re-solings. I appreciate the back strap of the Milano for all-day use, although I also own Arizona’s or kicking around. Best sandals ever for superior arch support plus comfort.
Look like refurbs
I ordered these to replace a pair that had worn out, and I have been greatly anticipating their arrival. They were not packaged well, they were shipped in a white plastic shipping bag. The end of the box they were in was torn open, and the box was in tatters. The sandals themselves have scuffing and marring, as well as fading of the print on the foot bed. They appear to have been worn before, and perhaps returned and refurbished. Part of where the leather straps are attached to the side of the sandal have gobs of glue, it looks like a repair job I might have done myself, only these are supposed to be brand new. Deeply disappointed with both Birkenstock and REI on this one. Will be returning them and likely re-ordering direct from Birkenstock.
Sore Feet
My wife bought three pairs and they were the worst feeling sandal I have ever owned. The inside sole was like walking on pavement, and if your foot accidentally slips out a little, you shall feel the unforgiving lip of the sole. Today, I tossed them all. I wouldn’t even donate them because nobody should feel such pain.
Birkenstock Milano
I've been wearing Birkies for decades and have owned this model before. Enough of an endorsement? I chose the Milano model for the back strap. It takes an extra step to put them on and take them off which is what I wanted: no slipping off as I go down stairs or over uneven terrain. As I age, tripping becomes an issue.
