Love these shoes! Picked these up from REI Re Supply for a 5k I have coming up. First run in 10 years due to knee issues and a foot surgery. And I couldn’t be happier. I was worried the 5mm heel drop would be an issue since I’ve been in 0 drop minimalist shoes besides boots in the winter. But these feel very natural. Only put about 20 miles on them so far but they’re holding up well. And my knees feel great!
I am 6' 170 lb Size 10 1/2. I have put at least 300 miles on them and they have held up great. You need to know what you are buying. This is a light ,fast, minimalist type of running shoe with lots of room in the toe box. If you dont like feeling the ground you will not like these shoes. I use them every day and on race day. Asphalt mainly with occasional dirt road. If you step on a rock you will feel it. If you run a lot it helps to have two pairs. I wish they had more colors.
This is my third Fli-Lyte. The Fil-Lyte 3 was my favorite, the 4 was a miss and the 5 is perhaps a happy medium. I prefer low- or zero-drop shoes with a lower stack height and wider toe-box and these work. For road running of reasonable distances (Half-marathon or less) on dry paved surfaces, these are generally fine. I am docking two stars for a couple of reasons: First, if there is any moisture on the ground, your feet will get wet. The uppers are so thin that you can see the logo on your sock and any road spray at all will be absorbed. I wound up buying a second pair in a different brand just so I can run when it isn't completely dry. Living in the Northeast, the pavement is wet most of the time. Second, while I do prefer the road feel of low-stack, you will feel every rock. Since roads are apt to have seconds of gravel where I live, this can be painful over a long run. Although the v3 and v4 of the Fli-Lyte did not have rockplates, I did not notice this as much. Overall, it is a good shoe for certain types of climates and terrain but that just can't be my everyday trainer.
