Superb Power
Excellent, strong boot for freeride touring as well as inbounds skiing. It's been used 50/50, love the boot, but would choose something else for longer days in the backcountry.
Unreliable and flimsy!
I am very disappointed with this ski boot. Again, today I had to ski with a boot where the ski mode was not engaged in a whiteout and icy conditions. These boots were purchased last year, and I have already had to warranty them because of a faulty walk mode. After more than 2 months of waiting, I received this new boot which again has problems. In addition to the unreliable walking mode, the material of the boot is not durable. Even though I skied this boot for about 30 days, it is worn out like a boot that was purchased 4 years ago. The boot fitter who sold me this boot told me that this material is a nightmare for him as it is very fragile. This boot is still stiff and comfortable when properly fitted. However, I would not recommend this boot to anyone. There are much better options on the market that offer a better construction and a more reliable walking mode that offers more range of motion.

Nice boot for experts
I love how these boots look and how light they are, the walk mode is great and my feet are comfy in it, there is no pain points. However I didn't like skiing in them and I had to return them. I think I'm not used to the stiffness and forward lean. I'm an advanced skier who want to enjoy full days at the resort and I do it best with comfortable and more forgiving boots. I suspect these would be more enjoyed by an expert skier with better technique or stronger legs than me. The other negative aspect is that the shell's plastic scratches and dents easily, I had already done superficial damage to it the first day of skiing, even being careful.
This boot delivers!
This is the ultimate everything boot for high level chargers! It drives my GS skis like a plug race boot. I was impressed with how little it weighs, making laps on the skin track comfortable and possible. If you are an expert skier looking for one boot to do it all, this is your boot. I've laid down some sweet turns in a variety of conditions, from resort to backcountry in these boots and have been nothing but impressed. Flip the switch to walk mode and the boot slides easily onto your foot! The only changes I made were that I removed the stock strap and replaced it with a Booster strap and added a custom foot bed.
Tricky sizing
I have MTN Lab 28/28.5, so I thought Shift would be similar and I bought 28/28.5, that was an expensive mistake, the boot is way too roomy for the suggested size on the website. My street shoe size is 11.5 so all the measurements by Solomon point to 28/28.5 which is not a great fit at least for a performance side of things.

Get intuition liners
These boots were a bit uncomfortable with the factory liner. Also the walk ski function did not work. When I changed the liner to a intuition tour wrap the ski walk function was firing with out a hitch. I gained a ton more volume making the boot fit much better. Salomon needs to figure out their liner situation, or partner up with intuition to make this boot much better. Also, the new liner made the boot much lighter. This is just my opinion. I have a buddy who swears by the salomon liner and told me i'm nutz for changing it, but everyone's foot is a bit different.
Amazing Boots!
These are the best ski boots I’ve owned to date. First mention is the fit: I have a high instep and moderately wide forefoot - these boots fit like a glove out of the box. Very often, boots that accommodate a high instep feel sloppy elsewhere, and that is not the case here. I have a very snug performance fit. Regarding performance: the boot is as stiff as any dedicated resort boots I’ve used and the forward lean is very aggressive. While the uphill performance isn’t going to compete with a true touring boot, I’ve been blown away by how well these do go uphill, considering the downhill performance. Overall, this is a fantastic boot that I would recommend to anyone looking for a one-quiver boot with an emphasis on the downhill.
Can't stop, won't stop
I'm on my third pair of these boots (or close enough, have a pair of 120's). I've gone through plenty of boot fittings, tweaked boots that didn't fit great, etc. This is boot fits great. I have a wide toebox and calf, so need some room, but don't want to compromise being locked in (which is kind of impossible while maintaining all day comfort). I ski 5 days/wk, 50% off-piste, 50% on, with some multi-day tours thrown in. This boot does it all well, proper all-mountain functionality - one boot to rule them.
Too roomy and soft
If this boot is a 100mm last and 130 flex, the my Smax carbon 130’s would have to be actual 92mm plug boots with a 150 flex. I would need to downsize yet again to a 26.5 (11.5 street shoe) to make them tight enough and not flex out the instep and smash the cuff over it. Another crappy liner by Salomon too. Lucky I’ve loved all the Smax shells I’ve had. The Carbons are the best non race boot ever, especially for long Tibia skiers who’s calves are nowhere near the cuff. I knew the shift was just for skinning and being warm so not upset about shortcomings. Just wish, as many I’ve talked to, that Solly would make the Smax just like it is, narrow and stiff, with tech grip soles and no walk mode at all, like the new krypton. I’d pay through the nose for it. I cracked the first carbon and still bought another. They are the bomb!

Best I've Had
Second pair of Salomon ski shoes, fit like a glove out of the box, pre-oven. Tried several competing boots; liked the Roxa R3's also (bit of a cult boot in some parts) but found the cabrio design and liner seam not for me with my high instep and arch. Using mostly frontside (but I'd call this a great 50/50 boot) and wanted a one quiver boot. Find a guru boot fitter, best advice I can give anyone. Feet are like footprints; they're all different.
