I had to return these boots because of fit, but that's not reflective of the boot itself. I found them to have excellent traction and grip on wet, slippery rocks and crunchy, iced over leftover snow. They're sturdy and give you the extra support needed when carrying a heavy pack. They do run warm; light hiking socks for the summer is best, but you could definitely wear these in the winter with a heavier sock and your feet will stay warm. The fit for my flat feet was good, but the high-top part of the boot aggravates a previous ankle injury, which is why I have to return.
Bought this boot several months ago right when it came out. I was excited but somewhat apprehensive since there were few reviews. I got them delivered and noticed they were quite the chonky boots. They have a very good built quality and a thick Vibram sole. The leather and suede are very high quality. The break in wasnt too bad. They run just a bit large, and I went half a size up to account for thicker socks. My boots came with red and brown laces in case the red wasn't my style. I personally would've preferred a nylon upper. I believe the Crests with the blue uppers on Danner's website are nylon. I don't think REI currently carries the nylon uppers. These boots are thick and heavy. They are suboptimal for summer hiking but have been good colder weather boots so far. The Gore-Tex inside is nice but has started pilling in higher friction areas. Otherwise the boots are wearing in quite nicely and I expect them to get better with age Overall, heavy boots with a good build quality. Bonus points for being recraftable and US made
Right out the box comfort. Great quality, perfect hiking boots. Danner is my go to and always fits so well. Never go wrong with quality and construction. Everything last longer than all other boots made.
Bought these to replace other hiking books absolutely comfortable right outta the box. Supports the ankle well while walking and has good grip. Good USA made product.
