Excellent brand!
I have been a loyal Salomon customer since 2017 and have owned at least one pair every year since then. Salomon is my go-to footwear brand because of its comfort, durability, and performance. I especially chose the TechAmphibian model because it is designed for both land and water use, making it perfect for my outdoor activities. I genuinely enjoy wearing Salomon shoes and continue to choose them year after year. I deserve a complimentary pair for being loyal indeed 😜😜
Excellent Summer Shoes!
I picked up a pair of "water shoes" this summer that I hesitated to purchase in its previous handful of versions. I bought the Saloman Tech Amphibian 5 in a men's 11.5, a half size smaller than my normal size, based on the sizing details and exchanged them for an even smaller 11 after trying them on, with and without socks. They exceeded my expectations in the areas of water entry/exit, foot protection and surface grip. My reason for acquiring them was to use them for crossing streams in the backcountry, but this summer I have found them to be so utilitarian during camping, hiking and everyday life. They are so lightweight and quick to slip on/off that they stayed just outside of the tent within an arm's reach. I recently wore them on a warm, afternoon hike on a local trail known for being rocky and slippery. I loved feeling the breeze flow through the mesh during the hottest section of woods. I was shocked at how stable they felt under foot and I was able to step confidently in otherwise treacherous conditions. I want to remind the readers that they are mesh, water shoes and of course their stability shouldn't be compared to hiking boots or technical, trail running gear. In general, if you're looking for an adventurous shoe that can be useful for a wide range of wet and dry activities, I'd highly recommend that you purchase them and I suggest that you get a full size smaller than the norm, since they are easily loosened at the heel.
Great water shoes for dry and wet hiking trails
I bought these shows for a backpacking trip in Havasupai Falls (AZ). Loved the shoes, they were perfect for crossing the streams and hiking on soft trails. I wear size 8 and they fit fine. I like the construction of the shoes - collapsible heal proved to be a great feature, no need to carry extra slipper for the campsite. Overall great product.
Unboxing Review
The product looks great, it trully fits to size, it feels super comfortable! Will start using them soon but I have no doubt in the performance of the Salomon brand!
Good looking sturdy water shoes
As much as I wanted to make it a five-star review given the looks and sturdiness of this shoes, flaws in the design/engineering of it made it a bad purchase decision. Two pairs, one male’s and the other a women’s version were bought and both caused chafing and blisters in the same area of the feet (In two different people). The problem is resolved in both cases with the use of thick socks, and although the shoes become very comfortable with wearing the socks, this defeats the purpose of a water shoes. It could have been the perfect water shoes for those looking for a very stylish and durable product , however the internal construction makes it hard pass.
Disappointed
I am a loyal fan of Salomon Shoes. Have owned maybe 6-7 pair over the years although not a single pair has lasted very long- they usually tear out in the heels for me after about 6 months. I bought these as water/quick dry shoes for a trip to Galápagos Islands and the mesh split after the third wear while I was breaking them in (mostly indoors). I would return, but leaving on trip in a few days and don’t have time to return/exchange so i guess I’m stuck with them. The sole is hard rubber, so traction isn’t great. I was hoping to like these, but disappointed.
Great wet dry shoe for water adventures
I’ve put a few miles on this shoe and it’s great. Only downside is the tongue is not wide enough so it scrunches up and needs to be adjusted. The heel adjustment seems like an afterthought, shouldn’t it be elastic? The extra strap that dangles off and the buckle is less than elegant also it loosens up in use.
So good I now have 3 pairs!
I bought a pair of these last year for canoeing, but as every day summer trainers they are great t keep your feet cool. My only concern I'm having with Salomon is for years I've bought their shoes and I was always a size 10.5, now I prefer an 11, but as I've had so many pairs there is quite a lot of variation in size in recent years and the 3 pairs of Techamphibain's I now have, range from tight, a little tighter and perfect. I tried sizing up but they were clearly too big. I've always been around 10.5-11. I appreciate they are a water shoe so probably worn in bare feet, so I use the thinest ankle socks, either way, they are quite snug.
Great Look, Multi Purpose, but Size is tricky
Bought this item two months ago. My usual size didn’t work for me in this shoe—it put too much pressure on my toes and forefoot. I ended up returning it (super smooth return process!) and got a half size bigger. The new size still isn’t a perfect fit in the forefoot area, so I have to tighten the laces a bit to keep it from feeling loose. But overall, it works for me. I picked this shoe mainly because it’s breathable, and I plan to wear it at work or while driving. I also like that the back folds down—it makes it even better for casual use. The forefoot isn't as soft as I expected, but it hasn’t caused any issues so far. Plus, I really like how it looks!
Near Greatness, But a Few Fixes Needed
I had a pair of the 2nd gen TechAmpibians, and now a pair of these. Both have similar issies. First, these shoes look great, and are comfy as an everyday NONwater shoe worn with socks. However, these shoes HAVE to be broken in due to stiffness out of the box and they are tough to wear without socks, as there are several rub points that produce blisters. The other slight design flaw is for those like me that truly wear these for river sport (paddling, water treking, etc.). The small spandex/neoprene band on the sides of the heel that attach the back of the shoe with the sides is cut too low, allowing loose debris to enter the shoe more easily, thus making frequent stops a thing to get said debris out.
