Simms Wading Shoe Review
This product is pricier than many others in the wading shoe/water shoe segment but so far it is worth the money and then some. Quality made product by Simms that is true to size so order accordingly. Fit and finish are fantastic. . . they wear well, are extremely comfortable and overall light on the feet. The only slight hesitation is the shoe's grip. It could be enhanced slightly fkr very slippery environments. Overall, very satisfied with the product and will definitely purchase again!
Mold In Shoes
I purchased the Simms Pursuit Shoes hoping for a reliable, high-quality option for outdoor activities, but my experience has been incredibly disappointing. After just two weeks of wear, I removed the insoles to clean them and was shocked to find mold growing underneath. The smell was awful, and it was clear the shoes weren’t drying properly after getting wet. I thought it might be a one-off issue, but my friend bought the same pair and discovered the exact same problem—mold under the insoles after minimal use. It seems the design doesn’t allow water to drain or dry effectively, creating a breeding ground for mold. These shoes are not only uncomfortable to wear after getting wet, but they’re also a health hazard. For the price, I expected far better quality and functionality. I wouldn’t recommend the Simms Pursuit Shoes to anyone who plans to use them in wet conditions. Save your money and look elsewhere.
Welcome upgrade
After reattaching the soles of my previous wading sandals several times, then breaking the bungee lacing, it was time for a replacement. The new Pursuit Shoe is a significant and welcome upgrade. I hike to small mountain streams, and I'm pretty tough on shoes and sandals, but these are performing well so far. Fit well with or without wading socks, no slippage, and no open sides to allow sand and gravel to enter. The toe box is narrower than my old Simms wading sandals, and the last is joined to the upper higher up, so it seems to take less direct abuse from the trail and riverbed. Sole is grippy enough for hiking, but smooth enough for use in a drift boat. Good job!
Slippery
Extremely slippery! I bought these in June and used them a handful of days on light hikes and wet wading. They are comfortable when hiking but once you step on a wet log or in the river you’ll loose traction very fast. I’m 32, fit, and very used to wet wading and I wouldn’t buy these again. I’ve fallen multiple times and the seams are already coming apart. In the future I’ll buy a shoe with felt bottoms, studs, or the felt stud combo. The shoe is fine for rafting, walking along the river bank or hiking but definitely not at all suited for wet wading in a free stone river. They would be fine with a sand bottomed or gravel river. Probably not the best choice for most northwestern rivers.
Great wet wading shoe
The most comfortable wet wading shoe I've found. I want to get a second pair before they sell out.
A shoe for pursuit!!
Perfect boat shoes for the spring and summer time here on Galveston Bay!!!
Great grip; quick dry
Great for agility and grip in cobbled western river beds.
Great for Everything
My only complaint is that they are constantly sold out. I wear these just about everyday guiding, fishing, hiking, hunting and to the office. They are easy to clean and function in multiple environments. I just spent 4 days hunting the rugged mountains of Northern Nevada. While I made sure to bring my Kenetreks, I wore these Pursuit shoes everyday. They keep the dirt out, they are lightweight, and they provided good grip on steep hillsides. I can wait to order more if they ever show up in inventory.
Best water shoe on the market.
I fish the ocean and bays of the northeast and during the warmer months dont wear my waders. Every water shoe I have tried in the past has allowed sand and small rocks into the shoe making for very uncomfortable walks. Not so with the Pursuit shoe which is practically sand and rock proof even after hours of walking the beach. The shoe is comfortable and is fairly stable when standing on rocks in the water. The shoes should be rinsed with clean water after each use otherwise they will start to smell.
not sure yet
every thing seems good . . the proof will be in the use, my intention is to wear them surfcasting & have not done so as of yet . . I wear a 12. 5 X-Wide Hoka Bondi shoe . . ordered size 13 . . fits in length & toe width . . they are snug around the arch . . I also bought the guide wet wading to go with, but can't imagine doing so . . they appear to be well constructed & certainly are stylish . . my hope is that they are as functional as they look
