Features

  • Recycled construction; 100% recycled (rPET) canvas uppers and liners
  • DirectConnect™ construction bonds and stitches the outsole rubber directly to the uppers, significantly enhancing durability
  • Unlike conventional construction, which relies solely on adhesive and can break down over time, this method resists delamination and extends the life of the shoes
  • Drain ports at the fronts and sides allow water to escape while minimizing the entry of sand and silt; nonabsorbent, hydrophobic materials ensure fast dry times
  • High-top design offers structural support and impact protection, essential for navigating slick boulder fields, steep canyons and river crossings
  • Hyodrophobic traditional laces offer the most reliable hold; the hidden design prevents snags while maintaining a locked-in fit
  • Rechargeable™ replaceable midsoles restore cushioning and extend shoe life; swap in the thinner, 7 mm option for extra volume with drysuits or neoprene socks
  • Zero-drop Level Footed® from heel to ball; medium arch
  • Wide toe boxes allow more room for your toes to splay, balance and power your adventures
  • ARIAPRENE® perforated closed-cell foam at the tongues and collars delivers ventilated cushioning, minimal water uptake and durable support under consistent compression
  • Super-sticky G.ss Rubber® with deep forefoot lugs, heel braking zones and strategic smear edges for versatile, multidirectional traction

Astral Pusha: Expedition Tested

This spring I had the chance to really put the Astral Pusha through its paces, and after nearly 200 miles on the water and countless miles on foot, I’m impressed! In May, I wore the Pushas on a packrafting and rafting trip from Loon Creek to the Middle Fork and through nearly all of the Main Salmon. Over the course of the trip we paddled roughly 105 miles and hiked another 25 miles while scouting side creeks and carrying our pack rafting gear. Then in June, I wore the same pair while standing up paddle boarding the entire permit section of the Main Salmon, roughly 81 miles. By the end of those trips, the Pushas had done about everything: rafting, pack rafting, SUP, hiking, scrambling over rocks, swimming whitewater, and plenty of time walking around camp. What stood out most was how comfortable they remained throughout it all. They provided great support on long hikes over uneven terrain, yet still felt nimble when paddle boarding. Even after weeks of wet feet, I never developed a single blister. The drainage is excellent. After the occasional SUP swim they shed water quickly and dried faster than I expected. Pulling the insoles out at camp sped up the drying even more, and they were ready to go again the next morning. For anyone looking for one shoe that can handle long river expeditions where you’re constantly switching between paddling, hiking, and scrambling, the Pusha is a fantastic option. It’s become one of those pieces of gear I don’t really have to think about, it just works! Looking forward to really testing out how warm they are in Antarctica this coming winter.

Most rugged Astral shoe yet

Most rugged shoe I've ever tried from Astral. Got these for multiday kayaking and packrafting because the stitching of the outsole to the upper looks like it will solve the delam issue I've had on my Rasslers. Tread pattern looks to be a happy medium between the Brewer and the Merge. Toe box is a little wider than other Astral's I've tried, but felt very comfortable and stable on wet rock, dirt trail, slick logs and loose scree. Fits true to size. Looking forward to seeing how well they hold up, because they feel stout! Diggin the little lace holder. Nice to tuck those away.

Lightweight great fit, slick on wet rocks

These shoes are light and feel pretty tough. The grip really well on granite rocks and dirt, etc. it might just be the rivers that I’ve been in so far. But rocks felt pretty slick especially where they’re covered with moss. I need to try them in a few more rivers just to see if anything would be super slick on those rocks, but I’ve been a hair disappointed so far in how well they’ve gripped on the wet rocks. I didn’t have other wading boots to compare side-by-side, but I was hoping for more traction. I’ll keep trying them because they feel so good and are so much lighter than typical wading boots.

Sturdy and comfortable!

I am so happy with the Pusha's. For someone with very small feet, it has been difficult to find footwear that has a protective sole, drains quickly, keeps grit out, and is comfortable. The Pusha meets all those checkboxes. They are sturdy and comfortable- the wide toe box is especially great. They did great- especially right out of the box being used for 2 full days of salt water, constant and difficult conditions. They cleaned easily and well after too.

Amazing expedition shoe

Super stable and robust version of the Hiyak, I love this shoe for bigger missions, it won't break on you, and is sturdy enough for portaging a loaded boat. When walking around in the water, they haven't gotten ANY sand in them, which I am super stoked about because sandy shoes are a bit annoying on a long day. Super stoked to go on bigger missions and only bring these shoes!

Pushin' It with som Pushas!

Justin Padgett "Padj" here from Landmark Learning in the mountains of NC! These boots are super grippy and provide traction on SUP, boat decks, and rocks. They are super comfy with a pretty awesome tongue. The foot bed is ridgid and flexible at the same time. Great toe protection. Easy on and off. I am gonna go find other things to do in these boots.

Perfect for river walk!

Bought these boots for both myself and husband and wore them walking in a cold river with lots of rocks. Excellent grip on slippery rocks and nice wide toe area for balance. Both of us commented on how our feet seemed to stay warm in the cold water which was not expected in such cold water. We bought oir regular shoe size and they fit perfectly

Killer fishing shoe!

The high-top wading shoe I've been waiting for. So comfortable, lightweight, grippy. The perfect shoe for flyfishing and covering a ton of water. Now I just need you guys to start making a boot that wader-feet can fit into.
