Not sure how they sized these vests. I comfortably fit into the large size range per the website but the pack is incredibly small. I can barely get the lower sternum strap buckled and that's with everything maxed out to as big as it can go. And even if I do buckle it, that only works with the pack empty. And even then, the angle of the shoulder straps is totally wrong so the pockets end up under your arms. I'm not a thin ultra runner so maybe that's who these are geared for but I regularly do trail runs in the 20-40 mile range throughout the summer season. I've had the Ultimate Directly AK Mountain Vest 3.0 for a few years and wanted some more volume for carrying layers or more water on dry runs. I was hoping the 5.0 or 6.0 version vests that UD has out now would fit the bill but they literally don't fit. Also the front pocket system on my 3.0 vest is way better than the 5.0 or 6.0. So much more storage available on the front. I can store all my food for an 8 hour run all on the front. I just put water (bladder) and first aid and some layers in the back. Wish I could go back in time and get another 3.0 vest just in case this one ever wears out! The new packs suck!
I'm 5'9 148 and I found the fast works very well for me but then my trail runs tend to be 50 miles or less so not packing a whole lot
