I have used this pack moderately since purchasing around a year ago. The other day I pulled it out to load with a few items for a day hike and saw the main seam that runs lengthwise had completely separated making the entire pack useless. For $130 I wouldn’t expect the pack to fail so completely after such a short period. Again, the pack was barely used and definitely NOT abused in any way. The seams apparently are just glued together and that glue seams to have dried out and failed. Obviously, I would not purchase again and am having doubts about Hyperlite as a company for allowing this garbage to be passed on as their final product. Looking around the internet, I see this is a pretty common failure… with no solution. Buyer beware!
I use this bag/sack for everything: from grocery store runs, to foraging while camping/hiking, to using it as a bag liner for my 55 and 70L HL backpacks (and therefore also using it as a Day Pack for when out on trail) // Of course, it being DCF, it ain't cheap, but for the amount of times I use it, and all the multitasking I put it through, as well as its overall sturdiness (esp bottom of bag, and the straps ar surprisingly solid), it's well worth the money // Truly a small masterpiece of outdoor gear.
This bag is discreet, light weight, versatile, and takes up no space when not in use. It is now the bag I use majority of the time. In conjunction with Patagonia Lightweight Black Hole duffle, my travel kit is now complete as well.
