Just got this in the mail. Sad face initially. It seemed too stiff and hard to access. Then, as I played around with it, I changed my mind. I want to say that the main complaint I have about this is that the water bottle holder is inside, which I am unlikely to use. Seems like a waste of fabric at that point. I DO like the load lifters and the variety of ways to store things. I like the way the side opens, but be aware that it only opens on one side. Seems to be enough and probably keeps the bag from opening on its own so much. I think I could carry more weight than advertised for some time. It's pretty durable. So, I thought initially I would return it, but ..I'm definitely keeping it.
Looks like they don't have this available anymore, which is a shame because it's a bomber bag! I use it daily. Plenty if pockets and 30L is the sweet spot for space for me. Was fortunate enough to get this on clearance. The only annoyance with this bag is the jnternal frame makes a little bit of noise as you walk along. Nothing major, but it does make a little creaking noise. I imagine enough weak minded, mealy mouthed people complained about that one thing and that's what took this amazing product off the shelves. Joke is on them, because I'm going to be the one still rocking this bag in 20 years.
Easiest pack you'll ever pack. Need to grab something from the very bottom of your pack? No problem! It's stiff enough to use without filling it to the brim, so it'll stand on it's own while your sift through the inside. Velcro front pocket is perfect for books, U-locks, and anything you need easy access to. Inside has so many thoughtful and useful zip pockets. The load lifters and shoulder straps accommodate various torso sizes. This pack is an absolute home run. Only thing wish it had some cute color pop on the zipper pulls.
Purchased a few weeks ago. Now, it's strapped to my back commuting to and from work through rain and wind. I was really tired of biking with strappy cumbersome book bags. The Grotto 30 is EXACTLY what I need! A real life changer. The pack stays fitted to my back, no waist band, is aerodynamic and streamlined, easy to secure with one zipper, highly water resistant through heavy rain (my belongings were completely dry after a rainstorm), love the interior water bottle holder. I am able to commute faster with this pack.
A great pack. Perfect size for traveling. Nice #10 zipper that opens the pack pretty wide. Top pocket has great organization for daily items. I am able to stuff a light hoodie in the big front pocket. Great durable materials. I like the internal water bottle sleeve. External mesh water bottle pockets stretch over time and the bottles can fall out easier. The internal bottle sleeve solves those problems. I would like to see more colors offered. I think MHW knocked this pack out of the park.
I travel for a living doing technical support all over the country. I typically carry a laptop along with multiple devices/tools for my job so I need a fairly large bag depending on the job. This bag seems like it will be a good fit for my needs. The only complaint I have is the water bottle sleeve inside the bag. I am worried that my bottle might leak and get my laptop/devices wet. If the water bottle sleeve was on the outside of bag then it would be a 5-star rating.
I love this backpack and would easily recommend it to anyone who prefers a larger daily carry but wants a bag that can basically do it all. The only areas I’d love to see changes would be slightly smaller (25l) and external water bottle pocket (out of paranoia, not bad experience). Though, frankly, both are quibbles. Great bag and 5 stars feels truer than 4, despite my quibbles.
Solidly made bag, the materials feel heavy and the stitching is good. I have a long torso and this bag fits me very well. Not ideal for ultralight type of activities, but great commuter back. I was dubious of the large front loop at first, but now I like it. It never caused the zipper to come undone for me.Definitely my favorite bag these days.
Solid, well-designed and sized for day trips, bike commuting, or simple overnights. Stable, formed shoulder and chest straps, holds its form no matter how full. Nicely provisioned pockets and access points. Classy colors. Rugged construction, minimalist contours.
I've been loving the grotto for hauling around my computer and accessories. I'm working on the road right now, and I have to carry a pretty complex setup for photography editing. This bag has incredible organization and has slots to keep everything organized.
