Good specimen of a modest genre

What, if anything, to wear under board shorts or wetsuits is very much a matter of personal preference. The long-ago problems of chafing from shorts have been relieved, and a racer-type swimsuit can be an adequate and quick-drying underpinning, though maybe a bit expensive and heavier than needed. For made-in-USA, Watermen and Victory's KoreDry compression short is very slippery Lycra, perhaps a help for getting wetsuits on and off. The DaKine stretch polyester rather low at the waist, so unlikely to stick out above your board shorts. They're long enough (18" outseam, my measurement) to need a 19" board short to be concealed. Not as slippery as Similar water-friendly undershorts have been available from a number of surf apparel brands. The DaKine kelp-like camo pattern, apparently discontinued, is a nice alternative to black. Sizing is a bit small.

Slightly See Through and Small

I typically wear size small shorts in basically every brand and even xs in Pearl Izumi and these were a little bit tight. The width of the band at the top is a little narrow and the stretch doesn't have as much give as I would like. The many colors threw me off a little too; I didn't think it was *that* complimentary. Most importantly I tried this over briefs but I stuck my fingers down the front and it seemed a little see-through for my taste.
