Comfortable and durable.
I bought these looking for a more durable option than a simple flip flop. I'm all-in on the barefoot zero drop thing so these looked like they'd do the trick. I couldn't be happier as these have become my go-to footwear for the summer. We did two weeks in Rome and these are the ONLY shoes I wore for the entire trip. I walked miles and miles in unbearable heat and was perfectly comfortable with this minimalist design. Back home I've even opted for these for light hikes in the mountains (I live in Denver) and have even used these for biking (MTN and Gravel) in order to keep cool. I am SO HAPPY that I purchased these.
Great sandals!
I love these new sandals. They are so light weight but sturdy. Super comfortable and fit my flat long feet wonderfully. They go high enough on my heel yet right over the top. And they dry quickly!
Where have you been all my life?!
I was looking for a new pair of water crossing/camp shoes that I could also use for hiking when my feet need to breathe. In more than one hiking and backpacking Facebook group I’m in, these sandals were highly recommended. I’ve had Chacos for years but I can only wear them a few miles before my feet hurt. These are so comfortable! They’re the only shoes I wore on a recent vacation, and on and off trail my feet felt great. No aches or pains after multiple days of decent mileage. I wear an 8/8.5w in most shoes, and I the 9s fit me well.
The best outdoor sandal on the market right now
After Chaco decided to completely sell out, these are the best vibram-soled hiking sandal. They are lighter and a bit less supportive than Chaco, but after using them my Chacos feel like wearing bricks on my feet. They are definitely a gateway to minimalist shoes but still super solid for anyone looking for the best outdoor sandal on the market.
Poor fit
I was so excited to get these sandals, as I really like the look of them. I wear a size 5.5 shoe and I had to order these in a 7 for them to begin to fit me. I've never worn a 7 in my life, but that's how these fit. Once I wore them around, I found them to be way too narrow for me. I dont' have particularly wide feet but my foot was edge to edge. I also hated how the toe separator felt. It was irritating, and I played around with the fitting on the hooks and velcro backing. Nothing helped, so these will be going back. I love the orange color and the sole on them seem super rugged. Hopefully they can make them a bit wider and maybe a softer toe separator in the future.
I wondered about these for 6 mths then got a pair!
Had wanted a pair of these for about six months. Kept looking for them at my local REI and couldn’t find a dealer to try them on or even see them. I was pleasantly surprised to see REI online had them so ordered them (with a 20% off coupon that saved me about $30 off the bedrock website price). I really really really like them. I wear Birkenstock and Chaco mostly (pretty much live in them in the summer), have high arches, and wide feet so did fear these wouldn’t provide enough support/protection/stability. Honestly, I will say they are as comfortable as my well work Birks, as soft in your feet as the Chaco, have the same vibram sole and are so easy to slip on and off and much less adjustment needed as you wear them. You literally fit them once with the hook loop adjustment, then slide on and cinch in. I plan on wearing them hiking in Colorado this summer and hope to do a Camino de Santiago in then one day in the next few years. I was in Sicily in November on a tour that involves walking the valley of temples and walking about 10-15 miles per day. These would’ve been better than my favorite Birkenstocks for that trip!
Capable and packable
They do run a size small and I have low volume feet! These passed the Costa Rica test. I swam in waterfalls, rafted, walked through swift rivers, rappelled waterfalls, and hiked and these never left my feet blistered or hurting and also never once fell off. Excellent tread/stickiness. They are flatter and more lightweight and therefore more packable than most capable adventure sandals.
Minimal sandals, well made
I got a pair of these last year and wore them a lot while I was working the footwear department at REI. Everyone asked me about them but unfortunately we didn't carry them in store. A year in they are great shoes, super comfortable for someone with collapse arches who would prefer to be barefoot and finds Chacos clunky and uncomfortable with such an arch. They are easy to get on/off and highly adjustable, too. After a year the vibram sole is showing a significant amount of wear, and I didn't use them during the winter, so that's probably 4-6 months of almost daily wear. Also note that because they are minimal and open toed you want your toe to go to the end but still fit on the sandal. I normally wear a size 12 in close-toed shoes but I wear an 11 in these and they fit perfectly! I have a longer, narrower foot but I think these sandals would work for a variety of food shapes...unless you're looking for built in arch support which no minimal shoe is going to have. Great sandals.
Comfortable right out of the box and adjustable.
These are super adjustable and comfortable with no break in period. The footbed is very grippy and a little prickly at first but you get used to it. I’ve had these for about a month now and they show no signs of wear. They seem like they will last for a while. They’re kind of like flip flops that stay on a lot better. I would buy these again.
Great hiking Sandals
Bought it for our recent trip. Used it daily ~ from hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and Mtn tubing. I’m usually size 5-5.5 street shoes and 6 in running shoes. I ordered size 5men/6women and it fits. Was expecting it will be small as I read one review mentioned she needed a size 7. I did wear it inside the house several hours for few days to break it in but I don’t think it’s necessary. Glad I choose this, rather than my other options ~ I’m happy with it. Yes, it’s pricey but it’s worth it.
