Been on them barely three months and already blew them out
The Peregrine 12 yellow shoes were put into my rotation of shoes since I was looking for a shoe similar to the Hoka One One Torrent which I use for short training runs. These Peregrine have been an awesome game changer due to the weight and comfort, I am now considering them for my longer runs in the range of 25 miles to 50 milers, will know more in the near future once I get some longer runs in this spring.
I purposely got the Peregrine 12’s to put in the rotation in signing up for a trail 50k and wanting to get more trail running time in. If they came with a root alarm to let you know you’re going to trip, I’d give them 10 stars, but alas … only 5. That said, the Peregrine 12’s were fabulous through short paved sections, Florida sugar sand, rocks, and roots spider webbed across the trail path on my 50k race. The stability and traction through each step was exactly what I needed and the padding is just enough to provide comfort on a long haul while the rock plate helped protect the soles of my feet. They felt lighter than expected and are more flexible than I expected … both good things to me.
Recently purchased on clearance sale. Long time user of HOKA shoes which are always amazing, but these caught my eye, had seen these on trail numerous times and was looking for show with some more aggressive tread needed in certain conditions. Have worn these on 2 short overnight backpacking trios and have been impressed. My biggest concern was toe spacing but am very happy with toe spacing, not cramped feeling. Tread on the shoe is excellent especially in wet, muddy and snowy trail conditions. The shoe was quite supportive and stable. The foam insole is maybe the best and really adds to the comfy but not squishy ride. This shoe will have a place for me and look forward to keeping Saucony in mind on future shoe considerations.
Finally I bought a pair of Peregrine 12. Grat shoes with a great precise fit and a very good comfort. Unfortunately I can't say that durability is also great or good. The outsole fell apart after only 42 km. Very dissapointed, they turned to be my most exspensive pair of trail running shoes.
After having the shoes for about a month and using exclusively on weekends (i.e. ~6 total uses), the padding in both heels has developed holes to the point they are now quite painful (no padding between heel and plastic back of shoe). Very disappointing, would not recommend.
Purchased a pair of PEREGRINE 12 Men's trail shoes. I was extremely pleased with the traction & comfort, but after only using them for about 20, 5 KM walks the upper seam has pulled away (torn) from the lace eyelets. Very disappointing as I really did love these shoes.
Superior grip on loose gravel or dirt. Very comfortable, wide toe box, and insanely lightweight. Big fan of the lower heel stack height. My favorite trail runners yet.
Sole lugs on orange version tear off with relative ease. Previous iterations with colored soles did not have this issue.
I absolutely loved the Peregrine 11. It was my first pair of Saucony trail shoes, and everything seemed perfect out of the box. With the Peregrine 12, there were several changes to the upper that I can't understand. The shoe has so much room that I nearly cinch the eyelets together when tying them (see photo for comparison with Peregrine 11). I do have narrow feet, but this makes the fit less comfortable. The previous eyelets felt sturdy because they were integrated firmly into the upper. Now the eyelets are flexible pieces of fabric sticking out from the upper, which feels less durable for trail running. I also preferred the previously thicker tongue. I realize this was likely a change to lower the weight, but I would sacrifice the weight to have a tongue that stays in place above the laces. Overall, the style and color choices are great as always. I love the mint color with the black rear of the shoe. The outsole and lugs are solid. I may simply need to stack the Saucony insert with my custom insert in order to fit my foot more snuggly into the shoe. But I've never had this problem before, and I'm not sure why there was such a huge change from one version to the next. I love Saucony and I want to continue supporting this shoe. I hope the next version is a better fit for me.
