Probably not great for petite people

This jacket feels warm and of good quality, but I will be returning it after one try-on as it is very loose in the midsection and the sleeves are long and wide, even on the XS size. I’d recommend sizing down, and for people with long arms.

Comfortable, reliable, warm- great design

I have had a north face puffy that was gifted to me nearly 8 years ago and after wearing it on both urban and backcountry adventures (slept it in countless times) it's time to rotate it to rough-wear-only. It's is no longer something I enjoy wearing out to dinner or work... I wouldn't have chosen it for myself, but it's been a great jacket. I decided to do some research and landed on Cotopaxi, Mountain Hardware, Fjallraven, and Outdoor Research at the top of the list. I don't have an REI near me so the best way to know for sure is order what I'm interested in, try them on around the house, and return the no-go's. After trying each on, I was sold on this OR jacket. I've had it for a few months now and am so pleased with it. It is comfortable, reliable, warm. It fits great with just enough stretch that I often forget I'm wearing it. The longer back is just enough to help keep my butt warmer on cold days and protect my exposed back when leaning over or squatting outside. I like that it doesn't cinch along the bottom like the Cotopaxi design, making it more flattering and comfortable, and it has great sleeve cuffs! I forgot that it's water resistant until I wore it out one day in heavy snow and didn't have to worry about being wet- something my north face was not. It's got a great hood with cinching, allowing me to actually maneuver outside and it stays put. The sizing is good, maybe a little small, or maybe I've just grown to like a little more room in my jackets. It's been perfect in temperatures 30's-50's. 10/10 from this girl!

Move over Patagonia

I am yet to put it to the test out in the elements... but this jacket seems to be amazing. I have the nano air from Patagonia which I loved... but after 5 season is looking rough. This has all the things I loved about the nano air and then has the changes I wish the nano air had. This hood is GREAT (just like the nano air) but doesn't make you look like a toe like its competitor. This has THUMB HOLES!!! Who doesn't love a good thumb hole... a genius add-on! The nano air pilled like crazy... I am hoping this one doesn't, but only time will tell. I am 5'8 athletic build... 28/29 inch waist, 42 inch hip (yass booty)... and the medium fits very comfortably.

Favorite jacket ever!

Perfect jacket for PNW winters. It fits great, is stretchy, breathable and soft. The sleeves are long enough for hands to be covered, and thin enough to even roll them up if doing chores and you don't want your sleeves wet or dirty. The length is just right. I got the blue one and the color is really nice. I've washed it and hung dry several times and it looks the same, so seems very durable. Warm but not overly so for this climate. Soft and flexible enough I wore it all night, camping in a tent. I think it is my favorite jacket of all time, and I'm 51! It would be nice if it was a little more windproof, like my north face fleece. But maybe it would be less breathable and too hot.

I love it

I’m 5’5” and between a 10-12 (darn you coronatimes) and it fits great! I don’t feel like I’m in a sausage casing and I can wear another layer beneath it comfortably. The arms are a touch long on me but I don’t mind.

Perfect Mid Layer

I would buy a second one of these jackets just in case they stop making or change this model! I use this jacket as a mid layer at work when I am outside all day long in every type of weather. I work on the water so warmth is essential. The jacket is water repellent but not water proof, but breaths like a charm so it makes the ideal insulation layer on its own or under a waterproof layer. The hood is generous and the articulation in the arms means you have full range of motion no matter what you are doing. I am 5'5 and an athletic / medium build and the jacket fits without being baggy or too tight. OR got it right with the contouring of a women's body and the jacket fits and zips nicely over my hips.

Great jacket!

Great jacket! Has kept me nice and warm. I love how the hood fits snugly around my face keeping the cold wind out. My fellow hikers saw my jacket and bought one too. She also loves it.

Bought a second one!

I am an no outdoor professional and bought one for work. I liked it so well I bought one for personal use. This is my first synthetic puffy. I got sick of the down puffy exteriors constantly ripping. This seems more durable. Sleeve length is great, sleeves are often short on me and these are not. Only drawback, I got the Loden and it seems to stain pretty easily. Not sure ifa the fabric type or what. Outdoor research is my favorite outdoor brand and I've tried them all. Best quality and they stand behind their products.

LOVE this coat SO much

I bought this coat because I was going on a 3 week trip to Peru that included a trek, a lot of climbing and some general tourist stuff. This was the absolute perfect layer. The details on the coat were really what sold this score for me. In particular the thumb holes were super smart to me because they overlap with the regular coat so you don't end up having a gap for wind. As someone with little to no circulation in my hands this was amazing because I could truly keep my hands and wrists fully covered.

Nice coat

This seems like a nice jacket - I havenĘĽt worn it outside yet, posting this review mostly for sizing purposes. I am 5ĘĽ3", 110 lbs and the xs fits perfectly. My one complaint is that the sleeves are long. I am just not a fan of thumb holes in coats. I like to use my hands and find sleeves in the way an annoyance - seems like it just makes for dirty sleeves. The weight of the coat is nice - IĘĽm betting it will be good for fall time here in Alaska and maybe winter if I layer. My last coat was an OR down coat that was light and packable and great in every way except for our very wet climate. IĘĽm trying synthetic insulation this time around and hoping it does better in the rain. I am keeping this coat because I think it will be perfect for the milder climates IĘĽm going to be traveling to this fall/winter.
