A splurge but will use for years to come
Just arrived today so haven't really tested it out yet but it looks cool and I love the longer length to cover my bum on the slopes. Definitely a shell - don't expect any padding - but generously cut so you can pile on your base layers underneath as you see fit. 5'5"/140... size medium gives me the breathing room I wanted. I like the bottom front pockets-- my old jacket had pockets more to the side with a vertical zipper and I was always trying to stop my items from falling out on the ski lift. This top zipper placement is a lot more practical. The orange accents are a little bolder than in the online photos... less clementine and more bright orange/reddish-coral. I was surprised when purchasing to not find any reviews for this jacket anywhere, so here you go... and happy that my REI member reward will help take the sting off this major purchase. :)
